What did you do with your Grenadier today?

A while ago I installed a Baja Design Dome Light on the upper cargo door latch and hard wired it to the aux battery. This gives my wife and I more light for cooking when it gets dark.


It worked really well on our last Mojave Rd trip:


However, when using the table... we had a shadow which was a bit annoying. So I installed a second dome light on the trim above the rear window.

Snap, just did the same for the above latch light a few weeks back but still have to finalise the wiring. Been putting it off as I have to dismantle the rear storage system. I now have more incentive as I need to remove the storage system for some warranty work.

Finally got my HAM radio installed. Fished the antenna coax (the very thin type offered by Diamond) through the left side roof power grommet, down the b-pillar (behind the airbag), under the passenger threshold to the battery box where the radio is mounted on the GP factor bracket.

Ran a longer Ethernet cable from there to the control unit mounted on an Agild Offroad ball mount over the right heated seat dial. Should be able to pull the control unit off when not in use, for a less cluttered cockpit.

Went with the Diamond K540 folding antenna mount clamped onto the roof lashing bar. Wanted a spring mount but the one I tried wouldn’t work. Maybe I’ll find a better one in the future.

Did you end up finding power for your back door light behind the trim panel or did you run that to the auxiliary battery?

I am sure there is power in the door somewhere... I decided to not chance a random fault code by tapping into the harness and ran a line to the aux battery.

Sorry, I suck. I was too focused on getting it done (the soundtrack would probably be hilarious though, some "colorful" language throughout most of it). I'll take some "after" pictures, but yeah, they won't be as helpful as if I'd taken any while doing the work.

I did the same with the Touch Light I installed in the GP Factor table's cubby - easier to just run to the aux battery.

One of our local IG club members has mounted a wind deflector* on his bull/roo bar ...* sourced from a truck parts/ accessory outlet. He reports that it's effective for deflecting bugs and light gravel, but not stones....!

Another idea that has some merit...if it is easy to remove and has some degree of function, with long trips I would consider it

I learnt how to do it too. Unlock Grenadier, climb in, put key in ignition after struggling to find the hole, turn key until engine starts drive to the dealer, they plug something in, hand money to dealer, hey presto, reset!

I picked up a Jurgens XT140 trailer today off Facebook Marketplace.. Not a bad spec, 200Ah lithium, Victron DC-DC, MPPT and control box, ARB fridge and an ICamper RTT. I’ll need to get some solar panels and some other bits and bobs but she’s ready to go. I’ll transfer the ICamper to the Grenadier and put our Crua RTT on the trailer. Then we’ll be able to comfortably sleep the 5 of us, although I haven’t told the wife yet so it might just be the 4 of us…

Installed the Leitner 3/4 rack today and my Inno camping/snowboard roof box. I’ve gotta say, the quality of this rack is superb. The shipping, packaging, quality of the hardware, and the aluminum extrusions is top notch. Installed solo, doable obviously, but made it much harder than it could have been if I had a second set of hands.

Looks great! I love my Leitner 3/4 rack! I also got the Molle Side panels for the rear windows and they are ROCK solid! I don't think you can go wrong with Leitner at all
