I argue that lots of it doesn’t save lives. People become lazy or habituated to these nannies and it makes them unaware. Just watch how many people actually look around and use the mirrors and twist to back up. They don’t. They look at their center screen and keep going as long as it doesn’t beep at them. If you stray from your lane, the car fixes it for you. That leads us to become dependent on equipment that can fail, and causes us to fail ourselves. And everything gets so stupidly expensive. The biggest reason the Grenadier isn’t more of what we, the real consumer, actually want, is mostly because of all this garbage that’s mandated. The AC is weird - Give me some Freon and a slider that directly blends hot and cold. The car beeps when driving on back country roads- eliminate the lane wandering beep thing. No diesel in US. Annoying AdBlue everywhere else. UK gets plastic bumpers. No drivers side handle (according to local dealer for safety reasons). Aux lights need a stupid dance in the states. New Grenadiers give steering input. Etc.
All that aside - I love mine

It’s more of a nuisance. I have a Mazda MX5 with all the latest nanny’s. I hate it when I change lane and it violently drags me back in lane. Reminder I must ALWAYS indicate first. All the beeps and bongs for over speed. I MUST NOT over speed!!!. It’s tells me that I’m tired. Diet Coke break!!! It beeps at me when I’m not in the centre of the lane. I must remember to drive straight.

Other than that I love my MX5 especially is the weather we got now.

Sometimes I don’t understand regulations. It’s trying to make drivers safer yet all new electric cars are silent rockets all with all 0-60 below 6 seconds. You can get a Chinese made MG faster off the line than a Lambo. I driven a few and they are silent missiles.

Regulations trying to make drivers safe yet government cannot control illegal e scooters, electric bikes and (irresponsible) cyclists, and those food delivery app guys who usually don’t stop at red and often drive in the middle of the road. You will see this all happening in big cities. The amount of time I nearly got ran over with e bikers when I’m walking the dog. I always question, are cyclists allowed to ride in the middle of the road?? Also I don’t agree to cyclists and motor cyclist filtering in between stationary cars. It only takes one moment of lapse concentration. Previously when I was younger I took out a motorcycle as he was filtering down the centre. Now it’s more dangerous with electric motorbikes, you can’t hear them coming.

Also government. A lot of immigrants can drive on the road using just an international driving licence. After so many months they can apply for a UK driving licence WITHOUT a retest. That’s why there is so many sh**t drivers in the city!!! They don’t understand UK law and think their way of driving back home is acceptable in the UK.
