Supra Shifter installed

What is the advantage to the Supra shifter?
Despite looking as it should of left the factory it removes the 's' on the factory shifter which is misleading & could prove dangerous. On an early journey in mine went for an overtake, knocked it into 'S' and there's no sport mode in the box. It just goes manual....................................

Did mine today. Great tips in this thread. I did use floss to “saw” the adhesive in the BMW shifter. Also, when pulling the cover off the Toyota model, I went through the bottom with an ice pick and there is a tab that releases the whole thing. I was struggling to get my trim tool in there.
Moment of panic when I started the truck and got a “gearbox error” but the ribbon wasn’t seated properly.
Go slow. That ribbon can be pinched when sliding the shifter in. And when pulling the Supra one apart, be mindful of those plastic clips by the parking button.

Looks way better and works like stock. Pretty easy install. Thanks for all the tips in the thread. Only tools needed are T10 bit and a plastic pry tool. Maybe a heat gun to loosen the stock shifter face.

For both Supra and stock shifter, start prying up the faceplates from the very bottom. Removing the circuit boards makes fishing the flex cable much easier.
