Supra Shifter installed

Haha. In the same. Same shifter I’ve had on various bmw for last 15 + years. All mostly have been variations on the same theme. I agree the super one is aesthetically a better look but ergonomically I think my brain is already hardwired to the weird shaped BMW ergonomic version. Hard to decide 🤣
 
I got my $139 package in the mail today...
I think I know what I may do over the weekend...

You can swap this small bezel trim from one base assembly to the other but requires you to remove the handle anyways. So there is no benefit in swapping the base as well. Plus it’s a ton more work to pull the console apart.

A couple of tips so you don't have to go through the same ordeal as I did

There is a rubber button under the parking button on both the Grenadier and the supra shifter. It's laying flat against the PCB and between the button and the PCB. Pay attention so you don't lose this. Without it you can't get the car into park without turning it off.
I dropped mine and I didn't see that. Had to disassemble again to figure out the problem and I probably spent 45 minutes trying to find the little piece of rubber. The Grenadier rubber didn't move over, I tried that. Found it in the end.

This is how it looks like in the stock assembly (it's the black piece on the top of the PCB). It's just resting on it, no glue or anything. It looks very similar on the supra assembly.

Second hot tip,

The shifter button on the side of the stock shifter assembly can be removed by pressing a small flat head screwdriver into the front of the assembly. It has a little hook that you can press to get it out. In the video they force it out but it can be removed easier by poking in the hole in the front of the assembly to release the hook.

See the little Hook in the assembly.
