Add this to the long list of problems I have seen in this forum that I have experienced as well. Live in Florida so thankfully it should be covered if they have one in stock at the dealership. Unfortunately 8 hours round trip.

Hey - I live in the Jacksonville area. While Safelite couldn’t or wouldn’t help me with my cracked windshield, a place called Orange Blossom Auto Glass coordinated with Crown in St. Pete to ship a windshield up here and replace in my driveway. Hope that helps.

For the final time, this is yet another public service announcement - especially for those that swap out windshields like diapers - so I don't come across as even more annoying than I already am for some of you.

If you plan on keeping your IG for a long time (yours truly), be mindful of the windshield install job. An incompetent so called tech may unknowingly nick the frame paint exposing metal. Over time, this exposed area will soon become a pernicious spot of rust often caught too late in the form of rust bubble by the rubber gasket.

I personally hate replacing the factory sealed glass so have had good luck using some type of windshield film protection over the past 15 years. This film is readily disposable & replaceable like a diaper.

which films have you used. The ones that I have seen don't hold up well for off road use. You have to use your wipers to clear the dirt off your windshield and that is it for the film. I was in Utah with a friend last November and his film didn't even make it through the first day of a 4 day trip. I suspect the films work fine if you stick to pavement.

Clearplex and XPel. Replaced every ~3 years. Most cracks occur from debris at speed.

If you're covered in mud that often and using your wiper, then you've got other wear/tear issues to worry about.

I’ve had a crack on mine for almost a year now. It is out of view and has not expanded (at least not yet). Starting Feb 1 New Hampshire will no longer have vehicle inspections so won’t have to worry about replacement unless the crack expands

I guess auto glass / national glass found the OE and got someone else else to cut it cheaper, thinner size.

The main part is the Pilkington - no INEOS logo isn't a big deal since they don't actually mfg them.

Yep, I just assume now Autiglass are getting them direct from pilkington rather than via Ineos - and Pilkington are making them without the Ineos logo

how many times a year will your insurance company allow the £100 / £150 windscreen replace, no impact to NCD..

And with extremely thin films, plus potential for scratches and/or clarity loss from dirt & wipers, I’m starting to think the rubber edge protection may be the best course of action.
