Shackle hitch for recovery

Here’s some pictures of making the loop before making the button knot IMG_6201.jpegIMG_6202.jpegIMG_6203.jpegIMG_6207.jpegIMG_6208.jpeg

And finally tapering and burying the tails for the finish.
This is using 10mm SK75 Dyneema and 2.5m of rope per shackle.
The dyneema has a minimum breaking strain of 7900kg and the breaking strain of the shackle will be at least 200% of that, so more than enough for extracting a Grenadier. You still have to consider breaking strains especially if using snatch rings or snatch blocks. If you don’t feel confident in your home made soft shackles, then better buy them.
Happy 👌🏼 splicing
