I know this topic has been discussed multiple times, but some specifics...

The EU has the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulations, the UK has adopted this as the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Order.

In short this states that the consumer may have their vehicle maintained by an independent garage and maintain the warranty.

The onus is on the vehicle manufacturer to make parts, diagnostic equipment and appropriate manuals available to independent garages to carry this out.

It appears to me that IA have not complied with these regulations.
Specifically the obtrusive service reminder which would come under diagnostic software.

It does appear to me that IA have effectively bypassed the above regulations as a limited number of owners would be prepared to put up with the obtrusive reminders.

The vehicle has been on the market for over 3 years, so no "under development" excuses are valid. I think we need to force their hand.

I have lodged a complaint with the UK Competition and Markets Authority who oversee Block Exemption.

I would encourage any UK owners to do the same.

Any progress here? My local garage say they'll be happy to service my Grenadier but I wouldn't want them to get bogged down by an uncooperative INEOS.

Does your local garage have the means to service it, including the electrics ?

They say so. I'm not so sure, given what I've read here on the difficulty sourcing parts. I'd be interested to know if anyone has succeeded in using a local garage for Grenadier servicing.

I'm in south Cornwall and we don't really have much of a choice as to whether we service our Grenadiers at local garages ! Our nearest is Bridgwater, 2hr 30 away.
Five owners are using our local Bosch service centre / independent garage . They seem to have a good relationship with Compass Bridgwater , who source all parts for them. They're genuinely thrilled to work on them but of course the big bug bear is that they can't reset the service interval because Ineos won't sell them the tool to do so. So there's a least five of us bonging around Cornwall.
A pretty daft position for Ineos .

Looking very much like I am about to lose my local dealership.
I feel quite sorry for them as at the time they chose to go with Ineos, they had the chance of taking on a BYD dealership. My next options are an hour or two away. As long as they are passionate about the brand I don't mind the journey once or twice a year.

Interesting my dealer has now had BYD move into their purpose built showroom and they now have a shared dealership.

That's exactly how it went at my dealer. Purpose built showroom for Grenadier built around 3 years ago. The showroom then shared with Kia a few months back. Now, signs changed to reflect KIA dealership. Not sure if they are giving up servicing also. Mine due in for its three year service the end of April. So far, my booking hasn't been cancelled.

My Ineos dealer is part of a very large family firm, and have a very large motor manufactures property portfolio that include BMW Kia, BYD, Honda motorbikes, Volvo, LandRover Jaguar, Mini, Volkwagen, Skoda and Geely.
That said they ( the Ineos garage) are one of the best ( probably the best) of any dealers or garage I have dealt with. - Lloyds Motors at Carlisle

So with the dealerships closing, how are lneos proposing that you get your vehicle serviced. l read that they were changing to a "new servicing model" what exactly is this?

l've looked at the Grenadier on several occasions and l do like it, particularly the fact that you can get it with a petrol engine.

They are offering a collection service if you live more than 40 miles away

They won't be doing servicing, dropping the whole thing. Mad when they already have all the kit and ability, plus the initial start up, may aswell have been a service centre.

Who are you using in Cornwall?

I have been offered free collection and drop off from 26 miles away, At the new new North Oxford BMW service centre.
Chester told me it was 40 miles yesterday, maybe it's a BMW thing, Porsche were the same when we had one, only 10 miles from dealer and would collect the car if we wanted

Well Busseys seems to not be in on this plan of Ineos doing pickup / dropoff anymore ? I have asked for clarification. But they are definitely asking me to do a 3.5hr round trip, twice on the same day and 'loan vehicle will be a smaller vehicle's, I suspect a ford puma or something.

Is it just Busseys trying to squeeze the lemon, and maybe about to pack up next ?

They told me the delivery and pick up is an Ineos funded service. Maybe to get them going as a new service centre 🤔

I don't believe dealerships are closing. The agent model is discontinued, and some moved to the dealership model, but most gave up their agency and didn't become dealers. I believe we hit the bottom in terms of available locations at some point last year, and they are now bringing new service locations in.

Ineos is paying the dealers to collect and deliver for servicing over a much further distance than normal. However, that has turned into capacity problems for the ones that are being used over wide area. 3 month waits to get booked in. Allocating 3 days to all vehicles when in reality, they don't start work on them to day 3 (part cynical/part correct) and then don't complete all the work it is booked in for needing it to come back again. I have had mine go in 4 times for one issue and 3 times for two other issues only to get told the vehicle is ready to collect and when I turn up, nothing has been done on those issues. What worries me, is that I can see the visible things that haven't been done. Its the things I cannot see that are a concern. i.e. did they really change the oil?

Dealers across most brands are rubbish and are more often than not, the letdown when owning a car. For me, those issues dragging on because the dealer hasn't fixed them (and they are all fixable and have bulletins) reflects on my views of the car and Ineos.
