I know this topic has been discussed multiple times, but some specifics...
The EU has the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulations, the UK has adopted this as the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Order.
In short this states that the consumer may have their vehicle maintained by an independent garage and maintain the warranty.
The onus is on the vehicle manufacturer to make parts, diagnostic equipment and appropriate manuals available to independent garages to carry this out.
It appears to me that IA have not complied with these regulations.
Specifically the obtrusive service reminder which would come under diagnostic software.
It does appear to me that IA have effectively bypassed the above regulations as a limited number of owners would be prepared to put up with the obtrusive reminders.
The vehicle has been on the market for over 3 years, so no "under development" excuses are valid. I think we need to force their hand.
I have lodged a complaint with the UK Competition and Markets Authority who oversee Block Exemption.
I would encourage any UK owners to do the same.
