Americas Service Options

As I've stated elsewhere, I live in Kansas City, which is about 7 hours from the closest dealer (Minneapolis), but about 8 or 9 from the dealer I'd probably use most often (Colorado Springs) as I take one or two trips to Colorado every summer.

I've been emailing about this with some Ineos dealers wand whoever it is at Ineos corporate who responds to general inquiries.

Supposedly, it is in discussion at Ineos. But that's a general enough term that it could be just a wank to entice me to buy one without Ineos having to actually commit to anything. I don't really care about the dealer location so much as I do the service. I can fly anywhere to buy one. It's the whole "what do I do when shit happens" aspect that gives me pause. If Ineos ever makes the service manual public and does something more with an OBD device that can read and clear codes and service reminders, I'd be a few steps closer to getting one regardless.

Taking service away from dealers would be, imo, a bad idea. They need to drive greater sales volume so that dealerships can survive and grow. Otherwise, I think we'll see and end of the dealer network all together.

Not sure why you think your thought on the subject needed its own thread.

Regardless, to state the obvious, the service network would clearly be in areas where there is no Ineos dealer. As should be evident by these and other threads (and posts all over the internet in general), Ineos (and its dealers) are missing out on a ton of new vehicle sales because potential buyers are reticent to buy one when they live far away from a dealership. A service network can fill that gap, leading to more vehicle sales for both Ineos and its existing dealer network.

As it is, Ineos and its dealer network are getting $0 in revenue off of this large pool of interested people.

Yep, nailed it there.. No sales = no service money, and no service options = no sales. Something in that equation has to change.... I know folks who like the Grenadier but wont buy it due distances needed to travel for simple service. When I ordered mine they had their map showing remote service locations... one of which was local to me...but those all just disappeared with essentially no expansion of service options since that time. 450 mile round trip for me to the nearest dealer... my service warning is going off now...and I don't need service..

The only thing holding other shops from working on this truck is the software license that is all. However it would be nice to have the company thumbs up the shop for peace of mind but it isn't even needed. Just allow shops to buy the license like they do for other OEM's. No need to "expand" the network.

The network would need to be expanded for the shop to be renumerated under the vehicle's warranty. Otherwise, the vehicle's owner would be paying out of pocket for warranty work.

All that Ineos would have to do is approve the shop that they sell license to also for warranty work. Ineos would have to give the thumbs up is all. Very similar to extend warranty companies.

Thought they could do that they would not do that due to lack of $$$ they would be making, bc they would have to pay another tech instead of their own. So yeah my idea very bad idea. lol
