I don't actually mind the noise, I just wish I could reduce the amount of assist... It is way too light so you don't get a sense of what is going on...

Yes, the factory pump was much quieter after the boost kit was added.was there any difference in tone? has this been put on a noisy pump? just curious if some of this noise is high frequency valve chatter.

I am interested in understanding how involved this job is as well. I watched the video for installing this in a jeep and all of the work is in removing the pump. Well, my issue has been, electric motors are very consistent when manufactured, you dont get 10% of motors coming off the line as being noisy. lots of NVH and heat tend to be your cues for impending doom, and yet we get mostly quiet units with some squealers as far as the pump assemblies go, and nothing is failing. so, I'm not sold on the actual motor being the assembly culprit just just yet, I'm still leaning towards it being the application, like a cheaply constructed or poorly designed impeller with bad bearings or out of balance, or a valve.

Granted, my experience is with 10 to 1000 + hp electric compressor motors but, most of the whine that will deafen in you, is not the motor. It’s compressor unit. Kinda like an old Paxton or Weiand . This is 100% electric motor.
Upping the pressure might help due to increased load on the motor maybe.
That would be a wimpy impeller. It's just not even remotely close to the whine of hydraulic systems of this size. How much was it totally installed?Just had the Owl P/S pump installed yesterday.
TL;DR: Little to no noise, Drives better on highway: easier to track straight, good compliment to an adjustable steering stabilizer, possibly made by PSC Steering (just a hunch).
