Dear INEOS,
A considerable number of Grenadiers are exhibiting a loud, high-pitched whining noise from the power steering unit. This issue is not isolated and is being widely reported across the owner community.

The noise is intrusive and severely detracts from the driving experience—especially when driving with the windows or safari window open. More importantly, it undermines the vehicle’s overall perception. The Grenadier makes a strong visual impression, but that is quickly undone the moment the power steering whine is heard. The sound does not reflect the quality, robustness, or engineering excellence the vehicle is meant to represent.

Owners have every right to expect better from a purpose-built vehicle in this class. This isn’t just a minor annoyance—it’s a significant flaw that demands a resolution.

What steps is INEOS taking to address and rectify this issue for vehicles currently in the field?

I just picked up my new '24 today from Rusnak Pasadena and with <50 miles, much to my surprise, this squeal hasn't been accounted for as an outright factory warranty fix. My neighbor noticed me driving into the garage to congratulate me only to end up asking "what's that weird noise?"

Pls remediate in short order. Thank you.

It’s downright embarrassing

Yes , I follow the forum closely and am aware of everyone's issues!
My point was that the engine (for a petrol ) sounds rather clackety , unless this is a cold engine start.
Yes, I've been reading and you've responded to these steering pump threads w/ the same consistent message that nothing's really wrong.

Respectfully, my video wasn't about the engine noise, but rather the steering pump squeal. I have another car with the S58 so I'm well familiar with bi-turbo BMW inline 6s since 2018.

Gracias.

Ineos needs the decibels from the pump to hit 90+ to give it a look. Otherwise the sound is “normal” and there is nothing anyone can do. I’ve been after them for a year now with no resolution. Rusnak and Sierra, they both know it’s loud and unacceptable.
I sent the video to Rusnak Pasadena last night having just met the service rep as she congratulated me on my new IG. I had no idea this was a thing until I googled it and came across these steering pump noise threads. Astounding.

Fun fun fun!

Update:

Rusnak service rep told me to swing by so they can take a decibel reading, but unlikely it's >90db. She stated the squeal/whine noise is normal. IMHO, it can't be deemed normal when there are some IGs that make this noise and others that do not. The word should actually be it's acceptable to IA when it's clearly not acceptable for owners like myself with a brand new, bone stock vehicle.

The obnoxious squeal sound renders driving my IG an extremely unpleasant experience with the windows down. Whether in the wilderness or at the mall, driving with windows down is a basic principle of automotive enjoyment and vehicular functionality.

Please address the problem, IA. Thank you for reading.

keep voting up this question. Let’s see what the CEO says in the AMa podcast 🤞

The dealers know it’s bad on a lots of trucks. Ineos wont approve work. No appoval no repair or replacement. Really should be a recall.
