Owl Vans Grenadier Steering Box Upgrade

too me the steering wheel is tighter left and right. doesn't have the slack the OG has. steering wheel comes back basically on its own even though i did add the stabilizer from fox before this which was good but not this good.. again its like everything, everyone has different ideas of what is good for them when driving. my wife loves it so its a big plus as she didnt like the steering originally... ZERO whine as well...
Can you elaborate on what changes you felt from stock. I can currently drive 80 with 2 fingers.

Does the steering feel heavier? This is kinda frustrating as we aren't being told what functionally was changed. I'd love to hear from Owl something to the extent of "we change pressure at speeds over 50mph" or "we make it where the pump is always active".

This magic in a $3k box is frustrating. I don't want them to release their secret sauce, just some vague but logical description of what's different

Well thats something! Does the steering feel heavier at all, not sticky like stock but heavier.

Performance is great! No noise.

However just got home from a trip and have total loss of power steering after stopping to get groceries.

Owl will need to answer for this issue. Seems like it could be electrical, given there’s no leaks and fluid level is topped up.
Have you looked for anything that might have unplugged? Was it sudden loss or was it dead when you fired it up after leaving the store ?

Dead upon returning to the vehicle, and going through my normal startup sequence.

Yep looking around doesn’t look like any connectors loose. I’m looking through fuses now.

UPDATE: 12/22

Checked fluid, leaks, hydraulic lines, power j signal connections, fuses, etc. (all good) DJ from Owl SoCal called late evening, which was great of him! We had a troubleshooting discussion, helpful and walked through potential issues.

Long story short, disconnected the batteries (Redarc & Starting) and let the car sit for 10 minutes+ then reconnected and… no errors, pump turned on just fine and drove home like normal. Shut it down and cycled key to on and ignition start and no issues. Will run several tests tomorrow morning and discuss with DJ at Owl directly, where we might inspect, but perhaps the body or steering controls just need to see some feedback from the pump after a hard power cycle.

Hopefully 🤞🏼 everything works no issues from here out, because the pump upgrade does enhance driving performance quite a lot in all conditions.
