I have been asking a few car dealers if I was wanting to sell my beloved Grenadier would they be interested, every single one has said No including my own dealership Harwoods.
I find that quite interesting albeit a little worrying.

I think I understand your concern about dealership. But from a dealership perspective, I want to move units that I have on the lot. I'm not looking to add more at this moment. Add to model updates in production, it may be harder to sell.

Check out Autotrader and you will see why. Prices are all over the shop.

You will be able to sell it, but not at the price you expect or need. I tried and got nowhere. Albeit Carwow was the only selling agent that I could have had a sale through and a fair one too.

For some reason, I gave the vehicle a second chance, as it is by and large OK and I couldn't afford a replacement of a similar vehicle. If I sold, it would be a complete rethink and a completely new car - M2, Z4, MX5 or something similar. Just bought another CTR, sold the original to buy the Grenadier and missed it so much, I bought another.

I specifically asked that question re having too much stock etc, it had nothing to do with it, they just didn’t want the vehicle as felt they couldn’t sell it.

At the beginning of the year I went to a Mercedes dealer (who didn't know me until then). I wanted to find out about the new G model and spent a whole day driving it. When I came back, the salesman asked me if I would trade in the Grenadier if I bought a G model. I had no intention of doing so, as I am very happy with it and it fulfils my requirements. Nevertheless, I said that it would depend on the price. He said that he had walked around the car for a while, while I was away and had even laid down under it. I had been out in my meadow before and hadn't cleaned it.
If I had signed the contract for the G model straight away, he would have given me €6k less than what I originally paid. Very fair from my point of view. However, I have a very early vehicle for which I paid the lower new price at the time. But the dealer didn't know that.
I decided against the G model. The price-performance ratio is not right for me. And I'm happy every day when I get into my Grenadier! And if it's hot in the back and cool in the front, then it is like this. Tomorrow it can be ok again. I've also forgiven my Defender a lot.
But that's my opinion. Everyone has to decide for themselves.
I hope there's a suitable solution for you.

I thought I would take a look at Motorway to get an idea of the price. It was in the ballpark of expectation but the following was a complete load of BS:

There are only 15 for sale used in Australia split 8 dealer and 7 private
However I know that 2 of the dealers leave a used one up on sale as bait.
When the buyer comes in to have a look it has just been sold or it is low spec and they then try to sell them a new one.

Diesel is by far the most popular in Australia, I think it was about 70% initially.
One of the dealer units that is "coming soon" has some rather unusual specs that look a bit doubtful to me.
Not sure who would have ordered a 2 seat Utility wagon in 2022, with carpet floor, then only do 20,500 Kms

Same, mine has been nothing but problem after problem. And they refuse to even let me trade it on a new one. They keep trying to push me down the road saying wait for 2026. They want me to loose money so they can collect more if I trade.

I’ve never believed in that statement at all, not everything has a price in life, morals override that….if one has them, I do.
You seem to be gearing up to embark on an anti Ineos crusade, while I appreciate that you feel aggrieved by your experience with your Grenadier surely you have better things to do with your time. Its an inanimate hunk of metal, if it no longer sparks joy in your life maybe you should do a Marie Kondo and discard it for the market price. The Grenadier is a niche model from a niche brand and its also the start of a new financial year in the UK, the UK economy is stuffed so dealers wont be taking risks buying vehicles like this outright when they can invest that money in other safer options. Wait a couple of months into the new FY (I would try June), find another vehicle that does bring you joy, go to a bunch of dealers on the last two days of the month and secure the best trade in deal you can haggle. All you need to find is a weak sales manager who has not met their targets for that month or quarter and has the dealer principal busting their chops, they will do almost anything to get your business. I recently ordered a new fully loaded Skoda 2025 Kodiaq for the other half, yet to be released new model where dealers usually don't offer deep discounts. Trading in our seven year old Kodiaq, could not get better than $42K changeover from a couple of dealers, I had offered to buy at $40K, did the rounds and found a different dealer who was hungry for business and signed up at $38K including a 5 year service plan (worth $3K). Otherwise sell it privately, look at the prices for same year & specced vehicles on the most popular UK private sale site, take the average of the lowest 25% of prices and advertise for that and you will move it.

Depends on where you look, when I looked today there was 40 on one site, all used , some private some from yards

The diesel Trialmaster its the most sought after model by far in Oz and the few private sales just under the $100K AUD price seem fairly quickly. For $100K or just under there is nothing even close to comparable in the Australian market. A used 76 running the old V8 guzzler is as close is it gets if you like 29 year old tech.

Dave is right. Dealers put up 1x cheap listing each month to lure you in but you cannot buy that demo model for$89K!!!

That is until you go to buy a Landcruiser and you find they have sold their alloted amount for the UK. We will get very few due to the way manufacturers are fined for selling vehicles that cause their average emissions to be over a certain amount. Therefore it is becoming very difficult to purchase a vehicle in the UK that you would actually want to pay for and keep.
If you go in for an electric vehicle then you will get a good deal, because very few people want them but the manufacturers are being forced to sell them. Mad world 😵‍💫

My two cents having bought and sold hundreds of vehicles both professionally and privately. I would sell private party at whatever the "market" is currently for your location. Here in Southern California, dealers are having a very tough time moving old stock (even though G wagons/LandCruisers/LexusGX550's are extremely popular)..... I have seen multiple new 2024' Fieldmasters' w/ lockers around $65-70k (prior to tariffs) and trade in values in the mid $40k USD range. Most dealers won't even make an offer, but here in the US Carvana will but their pricing in a huge delta to ensure they don't lose $.

If you want to sell a car in the UK put it on Autotrader and make sure that it’s the best priced car on there for its model, age and milage. It will go. If you put it on at what you want or think it’s worth you will wait a long time. But if it’s the best priced car on there it will sell first. Not sure what your model is Annee, but it seems that petrols and those without difflocks make significantly less. Just make it 10 quid cheaper than the next one of the same spec…

These trucks have odd extras like, indirect steering, pump whine... etc etc etc. We were always going to take a bit of a bath. It's just worse with the way the US murdered world growth.

Just drive it for the 10 years you thought you would have it. The curve will go the other way after year 5 if typical, baring any unforeseen stupidity.

You can also take the hit on this in exchange for anther car that has a big hit, like a 4yo merc S class, and you wont feel as bad, but you'll have a different car. :p
