Next January, I will be embarking in a new adventure:

Together with a group of Land Rovers, proper Defenders I mean, we will head to the city of Nema in Mauritania.

Starting from my town in northern Spain, we will take a ship from Almería to Algeria, then to Tindouf, cross the border into Mauritania, then Bir Mogrein. From hear, through the dessert to Nema near the southern border with Mali.

From here, starting the returning trip, Nouatchock, Nouadibou, crossing the border into the old Spanish Sahara,

Then Dajla, El Aaioun, Morocco, the cities of Tarfaya, Tan tan, Ifni, Essaouira, Tánger.

And then crossing Spain all the way from Algeciras to my home in Bilbao.

Approx. 10.000 kms. 800 kms of puré dessert opening our own route.

A great, great adventure!

A Grand Tour episode in the making. The trio made a similar trek in the final season I think.

Wow, i think if i lived in Bilbao or San Sebastián area i might never leave. :). Sounds like a great trip and look forward to hearing more. The Atlas Mountains are one of the most amazing places around.

Sounds like a great adventure. A little tip do not take any maps that mention Western Sahara. The Moroccan’s are very sensitive about this. As far as they are concerned it is all Morocco. And is recognised as such by many nations now. Take plenty of copies of your fiche for Mauritania and have a fantastic time.
I was in Morocco earlier this year and friends I was with had maps taken off of them , then the vehicle thoroughly search once they found one map they didn’t like.
I travelled through Mauritania in 2019 , through the Adrar and loved it especially Chinguetti.
Safe travels

Yeah, the basque country is a lovely place to live.

Atlas are also bestiful. Totally different to the green mountains in northern Spain.

I bought this car two years ago for overlanding, and think is one of the best cars in the world for this journey.

Thank you!

And thanks for your tips. I have heard similar comments in the morrocan border, so I will take care with my maps.
