Since my last service at around 40,000 km, I’ve been hearing a kind of three-note chime every time I turn the ignition on. Does anyone know what this means and how to turn it off?

Diesel or petrol ⛽️?

Possibly different to what you're hearing, but since February 28th my diesel sounds like a cash register every time I start it.

Can you record what you're hearing and post it here?

It‘s a diesel. It sounds like an ironic welcome melody of the f****ng HMI system of that car. I will try to record this….
Whilst it can be various servos and actuators if the sound is coming from the HMI it is possible it is connecting to your phone. Mine make a 3 note melody albeit when I open the door before i get in and my phone connects.

@Airleader says 'since the last service around 40k' which implies that either he's only just noticed what was already there but maybe it was muted previously, or something has actually changed. The 40k service is irrelevant unless there was a software update done at the same time that includes a new chime in which case others will have it also.
We won't know until we hear his vehicle sing.

Or he has just changed his phone or the phone itself has had an update. Agree a service without a software update shouldn't impact on the HMI system though.
