Interesting to read the interview with Lynn Calder in the June 2025 issue of Car magazine. “For now, the Grenadier and its Quartermaster pick-up variant come with the choice of petrol or diesel 3.0-litre six-cylinder BMW engines. In a couple of years, they will switch to 48-volt mild hybrids.”

It will be interesting to see if Ineos uses the ZF system for the 8HP transmission and what they will do for the battery system packaging. There are not many places other then the rear cargo area for the battery.

The QM has the whole space from where the muffler ends and the rear bumper. A good 12 inches of not more.

Yeah I suppose the benefit of a ladder chassis is a deep area under the floor where, presumably, battery banks could be located without intruding into cabin space

It’s going to make an already heavy car even heavier though - which will surely hurt the range and efficiency. And potentially load carrying capability to keep under plated GVM?

Besides the negativ side of the batteries weigh the fuel consumption should be less with the mild hybrid system. So the range probably will rise.

Ahhhh yes I’m a twat, I thought she was talking about full EV but it’s hybrid. That makes a lot more sense 👍

A 48v hybrid battery is no larger than a conventional lead acid battery, depending on output of course.
Plenty of space where the now defunct second battery option lived.
