and yet, that still should not happen.
In the context of the vehicle it’s not pretty good it’s a miracle, praised he Lord brotherEspecially with a second battery trickling the first one.
Having said that, I have no idea if it was left locked or unlocked, how often they opened the doors, or anything.
Still. In the context of this thread, it needed a new alternator and one arrived within 48h of ordering it. That’s pretty good.

To me as an electrical engineer answers like this one really show what level that whole A"I" thing has if it comes to problems a bit more complex than e.g. "How can I make my coffee taste sweeter?"ChatGPT says:
An alternator is designed to maintain a charged battery, not recharge a deeply discharged one. If the battery is significantly depleted, the alternator has to work much harder to bring it back up to charge, and this can lead to:
1. Overheating – The alternator generates more current than normal, producing excess heat, which can damage internal components like the diodes and voltage regulator.
2. Premature wear – The added strain can shorten the lifespan of the alternator bearings and other moving parts.
3. Voltage spikes – If the voltage regulator is stressed, it may cause unstable charging, potentially damaging electrical components.
Oh I dunno, I’ve written elsewhere on here about my experience after an accident. Identifying the parts required was a disorganised chaotic nightmare for a third party but once the parts were correctly identified nothing took over a week to arrive from the time of ordering.
Front Wing
Headlight
Inner arch
Outer arch extension
Various bits of plastic bumper
Was forkin expensive but at least they arrived quickly.
Whilst the alternator arrived in a couple of days it took 3 weeks to get a new battery. Weird.
Especially with a second battery trickling the first one.

DId a quick google search to figure out what the alternator is on these. Appears the alternator on the Ineos is the same one that's used on a lot of BMWs, so it probably had a good head start on being established in replacement part distribution and inventory.
