Hm, this table says, that

• the maximum luggage length behind the 1st Row is 13 centimeters more in the Station Wagon than in the Utility.
• the floor length behind the the 1st Row is 11 centimeters more in the Station Wagon than in the Utility.

?

I assume that the cargo barrier (fitted as standard to the Utility Wagon) might have something to do with this.

May be but would IMHO be nonsense, since the barrier is removable and can afaik as well be mounted in the station wagon.

I suspect the still rampant unreliability of the Ineos documents department.

That is rather harsh. Since the cargo barrier is standard equipment for the Utility Wagon, it is appropriate for it to be allowed for in the dimensions.

You were a second too late: I had seen that you're right and agree that the measure is correct and had thus changed my comment. ;-)

A note about the cargo barrier would however be helpful.

I did build an inexpensive platform with plastic boxes instead of drawers from OSB wood boards (hope that translates into English …) last night:

Measures:

Thickness of all boards 1,8 cm

Top board:
Width 106 cm
Depth 90 cm

Bottom board:
Width 88 cm
Depth 82 cm (should have been 84 cm but I mis-measured and cut it short – still works as intended)

Left, middle and right perpendicular boards:
Length: 82 (should have been 84) to 90 cm
Height: 14 cm

All glued together with wood glue and screwed with 7 cm long screws.

The boxes have following measures:
2 boxes of 60 x 40 x 12 cm
2 boxes of 30 x 40 x 12 cm

The wood has cost less than 30 EUR, plus some would glue and some screws and some 35 EUR for the plastic boxes.

Here are some pictures.

2 of these boards were used (Length 205 cm, Width 62,5 cm):



Top board in the background, bottom board on the floor, perpendicular boards just put on top of it:

Top board and bottom board are out of 2 pieces each.



Bottom board glued and screwed on to the outer perpendicular boards:

Nice work! You need to change the comma in your description as I assume that the strength of the board is 1,8 cm and not 1,8 mm.
Did you connect the boxes to pull the back ones out together with the front boxes?
Or is it easy to get them out once the first ones have been pulled out?

@Christoph you mention the top board is 900mm and the bottom board 840mm - is that correct I would have thought it would be the other way around to allow for the backward slope of the seats? In the pictures thye appear to be the same depth.

I did not connect the boxes. The front ones are only 30cm deep, so you can easily reach in and grab the behind ones.

Hi @bigleonski , it is indeed as I write: The top board is 900m and that fits for both the seats folded down and upright. The lower board is a bit shorter due to the form of the trunk floor. If you have your car already, have a look and you will see immediately what I mean.

I understand now, the extension is at the rear near the doors, not the second row seat. Thanks.

Have you secured it all to the floor to stop it from shaking around or jumping about on rough roads?

And unfortunately, I’m still waiting…..

I'm going to build something like this, in fact that gives me an idea. If I take all the materials and tools to the dealership and start fitting out the car maybe that will incentivise someone to get my order over the line. The more noise and sawdust I make the better!

I have not secured it yet (wasn't driving with the box yet as I built it just last night), but was thinking about whether I could use the airrail system on the trunk floor I have in the Trialmaster to do that. The floor board fits exactly between the 2 rails.

And regarding securing the box to the floor, as I said above, I have done nothing yet, but was thinking that the air rails could be leveraged for this purpose as the box fits perfectly between them:

That’ll be easy to fix down with some stud fixings/bolts in the airline track fixed to some right angle brackets that are screwed onto your OSB board
