I think AF is a specialist insurer and perhaps the IG or 4x4 isn’t their speciality
Having insured various vehicles with AF over the years, I can confirm 4x4 are definitely right up their street. I got a similar quote from them back in Oct/Nov last year when nobody else was prepared to quote but they went to the specialist markets for a "bespoke" quote.

As the insurance market dials into the Grenadier, and is provided with the appropriate information to de-risk the unknowns (as is underway in Australia) then I'm sure they will be able to get more competitive premiums from a range of underwriters.

How are we going to choose the cost to insure, presume not the purchase price but the 'new price' of replacement, incase it becomes a 'total loss'. I don't want to be 15-20pct adrift because some scroat has knicked my beloved Grenny?

I.e configure the same spec prior delivery and insure that??

Never had to think about this before. Guess when you have a car (new/classic) which is appreciating you work this way?

Most insurance policies I have had have a new for old replacement in the first two years

At my insurance it's an option you can chose. Cost more. Usually, IIRC, three months for a full refund in case of a total loss are free, no extra costs.

Does anybody of you has an idea how the insurance works for a new car like the IG.As I do not know how it works in different countries I am especially interested in experiences from Germany. But it will be interesting to see how this is handled worldwide! Will the insurances guess the rates for the start? Or will they compare their IG to similar cars and offer similar rates? My insurance told me that this would probably be the way the headquarter will act.
Nevertheless the agent was not very sure.
Has anybody some knowledge to share?
best regards
Have you reached out to multiple insurance providers to compare rates? It would be helpful to know more about their policies and how they determine rates. Additionally, it would be interesting to hear from other IG owners in Germany and other countries regarding their insurance experiences

I’ve just had a quote from Adrian Flux in the U.K. and interestingly windscreen cover is not an available option on the quote they’ve given me. Anyone else come up with this issue. Also they said that the fact that’s it’s a two seat commercial makes no difference to the price of insurance as I won’t be insuring it for commercial use. It’s the price of the vehicle not whether it’s M1 or N1 for a social domestic and pleasure class insurance ( plus commuting in my case ) Price could go up by the time I’ve added excess protection etc.

No mention of that but you can pay a supplement to cover an agreed value for the insurance.
This is cover for a petrol version circa £65k at old price. So quite a few extras and don’t know whether the petrol is dearer to insure than the diesel. 8yrs NCB. 5ADAC278-1407-43D6-AF22-5085AE3E27CB.png0EE62076-3A71-481E-97F2-58A31C3DAF7F.png

Crumbs logsplitter, are you a teenager with 10 points on your license living in the middle of an inner London sink estate???
Adrian Flux seem to be giving hilariously high quotes, they were over 3 times the price of the cheapest provider I have found

Never had an accident or claim, only got 8yrs NCB as abroad before that for 2 1/2 yrs with no proof of no claims. Never had a speeding point. Rural location in quintessential village. 61yrs. Must be my wife that’s put the price up. 👍🏼

Try one of the comparison sites as they now have Grenadier listed. I had zero years no claims to transfer, 51y/o, no points, a younger missus (oo errr) and rural village location like you and I was getting quotes around £300-350

Thanks
I tried a comparison site a couple of months back but it wouldn’t do commercial vehicles. I’ll have another check around 👍🏼
