insurance

It's good to see LV now have the other variants on their database, previously (I think I last checked about a month ago) they only had the Belstaff editions:

They also are showing both 2022 & 2023 dates ~ so maybe someone's getting one on the road before the year end:

And the important quote:

So about double what I'm paying for my 10 year old Defender. Given the Grenadier is double the value, then I'm reasonably happy. 😁

I've always found having the wife as a 2nd named driver has either nil impact, or even a positive one (in terms of premium). Never understood why, especially since she only learnt to drive relatively recently.

One thing that surprised me, and appears to be split out now, protected no claims, is factored in to the above quote but if removed will reduce the premium by nearly 10%. 🤔

Yes the wife comment was tongue in cheek. Paying extra to protect your no claims is rather annoying, just a way to get extra money from safe drivers. We should be low risk as no claims and no points. Rather unusually neither of us has ever had a speeding point in the U.K. although I have paid on the spot dubious fines in Kenya, Morocco and Malawi. I will try some insurance comparison sites in the U.K. today for some prices. Rural area may help pricing although Landrover Defender theft a big issue in the area. A friend had hers stolen last week 🤬

The Grenadier has arrived at HUK24. However, they only have the HSN/TSN for the SW versions: AAC/AAD, no UTE offers.

I leave it to the German members to calculate their own quotes, but I'appreciate if they post their quotes as well.

For the others: For a SW Edition, Diesel, garage parking, rebate for 25 years accident free driving:
  • Fully comprehensive cover and 1000 Euros retention: from 455 Euros 583 Euros (depends on extras e.g. 24 months full new value refund). My quote would be 506 Euros/year.
  • Partially comprehensive cover, 150 Euros retention: 285 to 349 Euros.
  • Absolute basic cover: 190-204 Euros (just legal minimum, not even partially comprehensive).

great emax, thanks for the info. For me it would be (10k km, all drivers allowed >25 yrs., 16 years accident free driving, other parameters the same as yours): 522 - 670 EUR

10k Kilometers is the same for me, but only one driver.

btw: With one driver only it's afaik not a problem if my wife drives the car as well - as long as this is from time to time only. And in case of an accident, if she drove, who knows what "from time to time" is?

(though she actually would only drive from time to time ...)

Had a ridiculous quote of over £1500 from Adrian Flux last week so relieved when I looked on the Moneysupermarket comparison site and found quotes starting at £318 (new policy with zero no claims discount for the missus and I)

Wow. Why so much with Adrian Flux. They have always done me well with the Defender insurance.

Location issue?

An insurance with the same parameters (age, accident-free rate, kilometers/year and the like) will have very different offers for someone living in Berlin than for someone living in, say, Rosenheim. I would not be surprised if the price in Berlin would be 50% higher.

I think AF is a specialist insurer and perhaps the IG or 4x4 isn’t their speciality

I had today a call with my insurance professional (german) and since its my first car insured directly from me to me I pretty much screwed. I start in the lowest tier (SF ½) the levels get higher the longer you drive without accident. Unfortunately I can't really use and reduction of my family (parents). Since the Ineos is currently not listed on the regular german insurers we went for a BMW with similar engine power and with some tricks and whatnot we estimated it on 1500 to 2500 eur annually for all car insurance summed up.

I still wait on feedback of certain possibilities to insure it as luxury car and get some discount on the rates. When just getting an insurance through a website you will just get handled in the predefined levels and I can recommend find someone close who has some business in insurance they know their way around.

Insurance in Australia is massively impacted and varied by each persons history, usage and location.
Certainly your
  • state, city, & suburb
  • Parked overnight in a garage, carport or on the street
  • At fault insurance claims in the past
  • Driving fines and history
  • Age of main and other drivers
  • work or personal mix f use.
I am sure this is the same as most places around the world
The other big impact is that the insurers currently have no history on the vehicle.
  • Will it be crashed a lot
  • Will it be stolen a lot
  • When it is crashed does it have a lot of damage
  • Is it expensive in parts and time to repair.

we estimated it on 1500 to 2500 eur annually
Be prepared that it might be significantly more. Does it include fully comprehensive cover?

And think about a higher deductible. I will choose 1000 euros, because I do not need a carefree insurance, but just something that just protects me from serious financial risks.

have you tried huk24? emax wrote yesterday (Thanks emax!) that they have the Grenadier online. I checked with my data and got a reasonable lower rate than from my insurance that quoted the IG like a Defender.
