This is encouraging and I don't own one but are ready to buy, but a few things that are holding me back from a test drive, looking at the car and internet complaints. Some are mentioned elsewhere but I've been looking at these for 12 months now and no experience owning one but Id like to add some points if you could give feedback. Those in the know having one will know which points below are nothing to be raised, internet BS or I'm talking crap.
1. Dealer and service centre support, especially in WA. The one dealer is ok I suppose depending on where you live but those further than 500 km's from Perth need at least a service and warranty repair centre with factory trained techs. This might be a hard one to resolve due to population vs sales but at least we have one in Perth. Include perhaps a free breakdown service whilst under warranty then after the 5 years perhaps still offer it but at a discounted price for loyal owners who support this brand to get it back to dealer. I've been stung by this free 100km towing service in the outback before and cost almost just as much to tow the car another 400kms as it did to get the car fixed. Wouldn't it be better to be towed behind a QM on a car trailer than a tow truck for all to see. I know this is asking a lot but after 5 years of owning one, with or without having used this service Id trade up to a newer model knowing I have the confidence when I stuck somewhere until you they get the dealer network sorted. If you cant support us with extra dealerships for warranty repairs etc due to not enough sales then keep the breakdown service permanently. Depot in Perth/ Pilbara/Kimberley's/NT. Diagnostic tool that can access all the codes to assist for any call outs while under warranty. The Alliance 24hr service isn't worth its weight. Perhaps the cost of this could be used for a better in house service.
2. A manual, book or digital copy form to take with me in the outback for obvious reasons with good electrical schematics. NO INTERNET required to view in time of need.
3.Spare parts inventory in Australia. Not asking for every part but, radiators, lower cooling radiators for g/box etc, bearings, alternators, sensors. Basically all the things that may need servicing/replacing at short notice. I don't want to be stuck in a town or place waiting on a part to come for SIX plus weeks, from Belgium.
4. The front steering damper and 90L fuel tank height. It just appears to be too low. Anyone else think this. Has it concerned any of you owners? If not then disregard this comment.
5. Bring out an option for a proper snorkel not a raised air intake. Contact GrenX here in Oz and do a deal with them to supply them to the factory as an option. They have an awesome factory look in aluminium or round tube style available.
6. Come out with better rock sliders with steps from factory.
7. the left foot thing. There is an option here in Oz that's been tested. Mould something similar from the factory. Although this never bothered me for a 30 minute road test I'm not sure how it would go driving 10 hours.
8. Watched a video of a wagon coming out of a turn and it clearly showed the death wobble in the front wheels. Can this be fixed with the caster angle? Can the existing caster be adjusted or is there no concern. I'm not an expert here.
9. If your going to option a winch, then give us the choice which brand not just one option worth 5k only. Try extending the factory winch rope in free spool, almost need another winch to release the winch rope.
10. Move the rear camera to centre and make the camera view full screen when in reverse.
In reality some minor problems that are addressable with some big cost and others not. My main concern being dealer back-up and support to a vehicle that is almost perfect. And thankyou Jim for investing in the dreams of others bringing a real 4WD to the market. And credit to INEOS for reaching out to customers.
