Independent Event GRENADIER OCTOBERFEST MOAB

While we cannot jump in on the trip into the Moab event, we love the idea. We would love to help you set this up. Let me reach out to Tim Hines at Adrenaline HQ to see if he would be willing to get the group started from Montrose CO.
Thanks for checking out this idea! If Adrenaline would be willing to open up their lot and put the coffee on for the start day as a setting off point that would be great. Help is always welcome. I’m intentionally not seeking planning by a professional company. Whether it ends up being S Utah BDR or rim rocker or both, I just want to keep the core idea being a trip for some experienced (at least lightly) people to group up, refresh our map reading and cocktail mixing skills, and to share some adventures on our way to the pay-for-play rally. If you and they will help I’d be very grateful!

Ok, I think I am in. Just got an email, ours is waiting on a boat, but I cannot see how we wont have it well before. Can I get a roll call of who all is interested in an overlanding before trip?
Clearly we’re in as we’ve been plotting this. Probably need a poll of Utah BDR north to Moab vs rim rocker East to Moab.

That can be arranged for sure. I just have not Done the Rim Rocker. That being said, I have never done that route backwards! Could meet at Arch Canyon which is under attack( ok, what part of Utah is not now, :( ), Hotel Rock, Elk Park, Into Needles, Lavender, Lockhart......Thats a good trip, nothing too hard.

Good Morning everyone- Hope you all had a great holiday weekend. One thing I wanted to bring up and offer to pull together is the route for your private overland trip into the event. I have talked with Warner INEOS, our title sponsor this year, and they are offering to start a three day trip from their dealership. One of their people will jump in for the tour and participate along the way. If this interests any of you, shoot me an email at info@voyager-outdoors.com

We support the idea to keep it on the mild side and are here to help. Even if it's just linking folks together like Tim at Adrenaline HQ to get the coffee on. Rim Rocker is an easy trail that would take 3 days to cover. Tons of camping options along the way. See you in Moab at Oktoberfest!

Thank you!!

I have a loose thought here. Its dependent on ours arriving on time. But for those coming a long ways, and those that prefer traditional overlanding vs day trips from a Motel like me. Would there be some interest in wrapping an overland trip around this? For example we start in Colorado and take the Rim Rocker trail to the event and or possibly do something after the event? Or both. Anyhow, just want to gauge interest.
I have wanted to do the Rimrocker so I'm definitely up for an overland trip in conjunction with the October event. Let's do it!! (y)

Thanks so much for checking in with them. If a group wants to head down with the Warner guys (who are very nice and got my money 💰) that’s great-and some people may want a led trip. (which is how that will end up)

For the pre rally meet (which seems to be coalescing on the rimrocker after coffee at Adrenaline) it needs to stay true to the ‘come as you are’ initial idea. Just a proper self-supported adventure of friendly owners. We drive after breakfast, help each other get through obstacles, camp when the sun gets low, cocktails and lies by campfire, repeat til Moab.
Leaders and schedules aren’t really what this pre rally overland trip is about.

I'm thinking that I'll be in Moab on Wednesday Eve. Anyone planning to be out there early?

I'm no hardcore offroader by any means, more of an overland forest trail on the west coast kind of guy but I think I would enjoy going out on the trail on Thursday.

Depending on the proposed timeline/schedule; I'd be interested in joining for an overland trip that week before Moab - great idea!!
edit: I'd be interested in the non-guided, just the "self-supported adventure of friendly owners" version of a pre-Moab trip

Are you in the S Utah BDR or montrose Rimrocker preference group so we can keep tabs? There may be enough overland campers for both by October.

Sorry guys, been busy. But I am grabbing our rig 7-26. So starting out in Colorado is the consensus with the Rim Rocker thrown in?

Further questions, we could start around around the San Juans first then Rim Rocker to add time. That is still good weather up there. I work up there a lot so its not critical to me, just curious. Another option might be to take other trails in Utah before the event after Rim Rocker. Again, I have done them all, so it really does not matter to me what everyone wants. How many on the pre-ride will be upgraded to 35s?
