I don't yet have side steps or rock sliders and had two problems:
  1. Despite being tall, there was no way to reach the top of the roof at the car wash without engaging in one-armed acrobatics -- one arm holding the rack and the other holding the pressure washer.
  2. It is tricky getting my very senior parent into the passenger seat.
Instead of getting a ladder or stand, I opted to get a "US Weight Yellow Safety Step" [1] because not only is it tall at 14.5" but it also doubles as a storage bin when not in use.

It has a non-skid surface too.

So far it's working out well!

That eldoret blue is such a beautiful colour isn't it. I should really wash mine so it looks a bit less Donny grey.

You need one of these….

Useful (I have one) but perhaps his senior parent might struggle 🫠

I'm 5'10 and carry around a Rubbermaid two step folding ladder all the time now. It was the garage 'stool' that I repainted (silver to look like it belonged in the Grenny) that I initially use to get my folks and smaller wives in and out since I have the rocksliders and those really aren't good steps. But I found it very useful for checking and putting in coolant and putting up or taking down my roof top tent. I even solved the problem of 'Is my RTT ladder at the proper angle' question by using the step ladder as a guide to the proper angle. And doubles as a shoe bench. And I sit my 5 gallon gas cans on it while I use the battery pump to pump gas into the Grenny's tank. Use it to access my roof top buckets where I carry oil, coolant, and things I want contained it they spill AND quick side access without having to climb up and de-strap a box to access. So many uses. That's why I keep it always in the boot.
