IG fuel lines not rubbingHi All,
Quick update on current solution. I am non-metro/Rural so most of my local shops have limited SOH, and easy to special order items but I have to head on a ~2000km journey today. The best fix I could find in the time frame was a spiral wrap from Pirtek.
The guys there were super nice!!! Good old fashion service, they cut me a nice 1m length free of charge to help me out! Legends!
I have applied this to both the brake and fuel lines and tweaked the bracket a touch to increase clearance. The lines will still make contact on bumpy surfaces regardless, but now with the wraps in place I feel more confident to head off on this journey.
Thanks all for the feedback. I hope this helps other before it becomes a stranding issue for you. Photos as below showing the fabric initially installed with zip tie next to the replacement wrap. Then 2 images of it installed, the wide angle shot hopefully shows the location of the issue more clearly @TheDocAUS
I just checked the IG, the fuel lines are close but not rubbing (and showing no sign of rubbing as I felt both fuel lines). They seem to be in a slightly different position on an IG verse Levi's QM photos.
I would be interested to hearing from other IG owners, if they are seeing the same thing on their IG diesels. One car is too small a sample to draw a general conclusion. I will also look again and double check. @globalgregors
Other leasson, use the right fix
Use the right tool for the job, the Pirtek hose seems to work really well, it sure beats the dodgy first attempt. Apprentice please take note.
I think I will go spiral wrap regardless. Cheap fast fix.
