It rained here really hard today and my rain gutters were overflowing waterfall style over both front doors. After it stopped I took a look to see what was going on and the rain gutter cap drains are getting clogged with debris. So I pulled and cleaned them and think I see a potential issue with water retention in the lock seem that could lead to issues with corrosion down the road. I am going to put this on the remove clean and inspect list from now on.

I mentioned this around 2 years ago. Yes, it should be checked and properly cleaned from time to time, depending upon where the vehicle is stored and where it goes.

It’s an issue alright. Booked in tomorrow for a new rain gutter trim. Luckily the rusty black trim is replaceable.

I drained them from the front; perhaps the best way to avoid damage.
It’s inevitable that all will rust one day. Best thing to do is to use black touch up paint on the silver metal trim and then Lanoguard. Also on the screw hole. It’s just a bad design.
