Floor mats

I have the utility flooring in my grenadier. I didn’t bother buying the oem rubber floor mats when I took delivery. I’m wondering if it’s worth getting floor mats with the utility flooring and if so, should I go with the oem mats, the weathertechs, or something else. Thanks.

I have the OEM weather mats. They’re nice, but not any nicer than WeatherTech. I’ve even seen sites selling Grenadier badges that replace the weathertech badge. I live in West TX so they do a good job trapping rocks and dirt that would otherwise slide all over without them. So I’d do it for sure.

The factory ones are nice - I ran those for a good 6-7 months. Decided to replace the fronts with WTs because they have slight vertical walls that are great for holding liquids (the mush from snowy boots). I kept the factory 2nd rows as I hardly ever have rear-seat passengers and got a WT liner for the boot area. It's OK - too slippy though.

I have the OEM mats because Weathertech didn’t offer them in August 2024. I have had WT in all my cars for the last 15+ years.

I am happy with the factor mats, super easy to vacuum and care for. WT tends to get “dull” because of dirt from my shoes, the factory ones are easy to care for.

The OEM mats are satisfactory at best. The rubber is pretty thin and they could definitely have more coverage. Anything more than a trace of water ends up underneath the mats. From the photos on the weathertech site, the coverage is a bit better with more substantial lips all around the edge (although the gas pedal is limiting in both cases). I think you'll be happier with them than you would be with the OEM.

As soon as they offer (if ever) the HP series floor mats, I'm all in for a set of weather tech's. I've got the standard mats in two vehicles, and the HP series in our Ford Expedition. I can't stand the standard series anymore, the HP's are so much better, it's not even a close comparison.

Quick update. Got my weathertechs over the weekend. They fit great and I'm very happy with them. I'd be super interested in an HP version with the more "rubbery" feel than standard weathertechs though.

I was close to going with weather techs, like I have in all my past vehicles, but at the last minute, decided to explore other options.

Settled on cocomats, (charcoal with grey contrast) which were surprisingly the same costs for the coconut fibre product as WT. Considered their wool Mat as well but wasn’t a fan of the color options. What’s interesting is that they have a ton of different materials available. Lotta flavors!

Should have them soon - 2 week lead time.

Planning to go with WT for the rear though unless the coco mats for front & rear convince me otherwise.

Pleased with color. While this doesn’t show it, they are custom fit and not just rectangle mats. The driver mat clicks in (lightly) to the two anchor points.

If I was in mud a lot, these wouldn’t be my choice though.
