Hi Guys,

I have considering mounting some thin flexible solar panels to the existing factory roof rails - possible with some polyurethane.
They seem to have a slight bit of movement so I was wondering if they are just a cap over something a bit more beefy.

I dont want to force them off only to find I've broken an unobtanium clip or something.

Anybody have any details on these things

Thanks and Regards

Steve

I have read that some people do break the attachments in the plastic rail when removing if not done correctly. I'm sure somewhere within all this knowledge there is an exploration on to remove them correctly

Yes there is .. I forget the thread. Can search. Also in the online repair manual if you have an account with Ineos.

The plastic roof rails are just clipped into some metal studs on the roof.
ahhh thats what im looking for - I can easily mount some angles to these if that is the case and then mount op the flex panel. - Looking to make something very low profile without going to another rack. I have a full length rhino rack and all the camping gear and main panels are mounted to this, which I can take on / off easily in the shed. Im just looking for a small system that will keep the fridge battery topped up when the main rack (and connections) is off - and will fit under the RR.

So any ideas how to get the plastic rail off - slide and pull, 6ft jimmy bar. ??

Steve

Or how about something like this - Lensun 90w bonnet mounted solar panel

Yes slide forward to unclip then remove. There is a thread in this:
