General Engine Block heaters for Alaska, Norway, Sweden, etc

Hi,

Has anyone installed a suitable frost plug engine block heater for the B58 engine? I am concerned about reducing cold start engine wear. If you found one, what model did you use, what wattage is appropriate, how easy was it to install, etc.

I’m curious. Did you ever install the block heater?

I did not. I live in Anchorage where our winters are mild enough that it’s normally not really necessary. We are on the water (Cook Inlet). If I lived 50 miles north, I would give it strong consideration. There is an owner in Fairbanks who went whole hog with a block heater, battery blanket, and other equipment. I may be able to drag up the details if you’re interested.
