For you deisel owners. Was listening to a youtube video, cant remember which one but it was with someone that had technical knowledge on the cars systems. The question was asked will the car still run with no add blue in the tank. The simple answer was "YES" just dont turn your ignition off as it wont restart. My take on this is, leave your car running and get straight to the dealer, especially if out in remote areas. Id carry some spare add blue in the event your system starts a constant burn off due to a faulty sensor at the DPF, burns off more than required or your tank level reads incorrectly. Worth noting to prevent you being stuck in a life threatening situation

Most current systems will derate the engine in stages if there is no AdBlue until a forced shut down. Hopefully the rest of the world follows the new US laws in 2026 allowing a vehicle to safely operate for around 10hrs 600 miles with no AdBlue before derates or shut downs.

I like that US law, 👌, I software update adding this feature would be great, on all diesel ⛽️ vehicles.

Good share @Rayzar.

The BMW B57 training manual covers how BMW deals with depleted Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF, AdBlue). With the exception of indicators and warnings, I think this fairly closely reflects how it is implemented on Ineos vehicles. Unfortunately the Grenadier owner's manual is less descriptive.

I'm unaware if IA also allow a three minute restart grace period after turn off if the AdBlue level is zero. I don't plan to test it!
