Had the cruise control checked by the dealer this week. I provided them with the 3 possible causes mentioned by theDocAUS above, but the service report only states ' steering angle sensor calibration carried out, electric stability control module reset, steering box oil level checked and topped up, road test -unable to duplicate concern'. Not surprised that they couldn't duplicate as the issue arises randomly when steering left and bumpy roads. Won't be using cruise control for another month until my next long distance trip so will see if the problems recurs then. Service report also refers to other IG initiated checks - 'starter conductor rail inspect or replace, software update 1.4, alternator cable clash shield supplied and fitted, starter motor cable clash diesel - cable inspected and adjusted, steering gear inspection Australia only - steering gear bolts inspected'. Apparently there are other recalls requiring parts not available and the dealer is awaiting supply - specifics not mentioned.
Hi Mark,
An update. I had the cruise control issue fixed 3 weeks ago under an Ineos warranty fix (so yes, it is a known issue). Im not 100% sure what they did as the front desk person did not know, the detailed sheet didnt say much either but apparently they replaced some bolts on the steering somewhere. They then took it in for a wheel alignment.
The cruise control problem so far has been fixed....BUT wait there is more....
Last Friday whilst travelling back from Hobart to Launceston my steering wheel slowly started moving off centre. I stopped and looked under car but it was dark and nothing obvious. It then got a bit worse and the car warned me that ALL the safety systems were now off (no traction control, downhill assist, uphill assist, etc) By the time i got home the steering wheel was a full 90 degrees off centre whilst the car is driving straight.
I got under the car on Saturday and WOW every lock nut on the steering arm and panhard rod was loose. Well 4 of the 5.
I rang my local tyre dealer got me in on Monday morning and redid the alignment and sorted the looseness out!!
On Saturday i email my dealer to let them no what happened and asking for someone to call asap on Monday. I even sent them photos of the codes on the dash AND 2 videos of the loose nuts.
Stupid me i thought it might have been a relatively important call for them to make. They called on Tuesday to let me know it would be a week till they could look at it. By now the alarms had reset themselves and all seemed good. I relayed this to the mechanic but he still wanted to see the car to make sure everything was OK.
I dropped it off on Monday and just picked it up today as there were some other recall issues to do (alternator, pinion seals...which had been done previously?).
As the codes for the safety systems had reset, the codes were showing on their scan gauge but no longer active...thats great. Now the kicker...
THAT WILL BE $129.25 SIR.....Why i ask? Well as there were no active codes it was a false alarm.
Needless to say i didnt pay the bill...but jeez come on. They didnt even entertain paying for the wheel alignment I had to get done, despite admitting that their tyre people had stuffed up.
Please Ineos give us more than one service option in Tasmania...please.
