Cruise control - am I going crazy? Gremlins?!?

I somehow missed this thread a few months back when i did a search.
My cruise control has been cancelling on left hand bends only - but very intermittently, like once a week, 10 times a day, not for a fortnight etc.
I reported it to the dealer from about day 2 ownership and the dealer has "investigated" it at all of my first 3 services - but tonight they tried to charge me $180 because they couldn't find a problem...WTF (They had forgotten to charge me the $180 at the last service 8 weeks earlier!!).

Maybe Im unreasonable but i refused to pay and went through 2 staff before i got to the manager. He relented but what?
I will send a screen shot of DennisM's thread reply above to the manager and see what he has to say.

To top this off, the car wasn't even in for a service, they had had it for the last 2 days to replace all the door lock mechanisms (which were basically permanently jammed) and fix the lack of a heater which last week was causing the windscreen to freeze (it was cold here in Tassie last week). Did they replace the lock mechanisms...I think so. Did they fix the heater...NO...Needs a new thermostat apparently, that will be another 2 weeks wait for one to turn up.

Does anyone in Australia get good service from their dealer? We only have one option here in Tas as the three locations are all part of the same motor group, as i understand it. Their customer service is lacking to say the least. Im now onto the 4th person who is the Ineos contact (thats in 8 months) and i dont see any of the previous people there. Despite its quirks and problems, I love the car, but the servicing and warranty experience here in Launceston is so bad (imo) that i wouldn't buy another.

My rant over, now its beer O clock
Have you tried topping both coolant tanks to the max level. This usually fixes the heating. Should be easy fix.

Hi Mate,
Yep they topped them off, then drained and refilled and re-bled the system. After running some more checks the temp differential between top and bottom hoses suggested the thermostat was sticking.
The frustrating part for me is that they are a very small dealer for Ineos (id estimate <50 vehicles sold) so no-one really seems to know the issues nor appear to spend time finding out how to sort them - they are a Subaru dealer.
The sticking door locks is a great example - it was in several times to fix so they just kept spraying lubrication in and hoping for the best. When the re-call happened in the US for the issue, I rang and told them about it. A few weeks later a whole new replacement set turn up.

Thanks for the info though.
Cheers
Chris

The failure of the so-called "gateway" module is a known issue by Ineos. Several forumites reported on this about a year ago.
Early stages of failure are indicated by intermittent faults including with the cruise control dropping out and and loss of power steering.
I had issues with the cruise control unexpectedly dropping out on a long trip... This appears to have been resolved with an upgrade to S/W 0000689002940 at the 12 m service. Power steering so far has been fault free🤞
Hi Denis,

Would you mind giving me your dealers contact details. I would like mine to talk to yours and see if they can figure out how to sort the cruise control problem.

Thanks
Chris
