I guess in clothing production the chance that someone gets fleeced (didn´t know the word so far) is more than likely if you do not other for a fair trade batch or similar. This will most time not change due to higher enduser prices. It is a pitty but this discussion would bring us back to the anticolonisation thread...

Don't wear a wax Bellstaf or Barbour for driving it makes the seats. dirty from the wax and what the wax picks up when your in the field.

I wore a Driz a bone heavy oilskin coat on a trip to Zurich many years ago and when I went to a pretty high end restaurant they asked if I would mind if they hung it out the back rather than with the other coats.

From memory it was 1999 and I was tight on money so I wore what I had. Kangaroo skin hat, that coat and Blundstone boots. The Matrix movie had just come out so the gun under the coat was a real possibility. As I am typing this I realise how young I was on an international business trip. 36 and my first business trip out of Australia was in 1994 to France when I was 31,

Just looked at the price here in the US for a Belstaff Trialmaster jacket: $600 USD. I have an older black Barbour International that looks familiar similar but I sure didn't pay that much for it. But hey, if INEOS is offering a Belstaff jacket with a car, then I'm here for it.

Interesting. In Australia they are only $582 which is $390 USD

Don’t mix em up. The trialmaster jackets come in cotton or leather. In the German Belstaff shop the cotton one is 550€. The leather one 1250€

I couldn't see the Trialmaster in waxed cotton but the Fieldmaster version is $291 which is $195 in USD & Euro

The leather jacket just electrified me about 15 years ago in a store in Frankfurt. I was so crazy about it and even had the money for it, but for 1000 Euros, with the price of my very first Belstaff Jacket in mind - which was about 120 DM, I didn't buy it.

Today my belly would not allow me to close the jacket without effort.

But hey, I'm working on it ...

EDIT: 120 DM, not Euros - 61 Euros.

A very quick google search states when Ineos bought Belstaff they moved production back to the UK. So yes there are skilled workers in the west.
A friend of mine owns a very cool old school shop. They sell Doc Martins, those made in the UK are more expensive than the “Chinese” ones. Take longer to break in but last a LOT longer.
Maybe the cheaper Aussie Belstaffs are made in China.?

Incidentally the Barbour Classic waxed jackets are also still made in the UK….

If you look at the online configurator for the Australian site you will notice that there is an option to select instead a Grenadier-branded speedo/thong set in lieu of the jacket
