Bead depth on stock wheels?

I have the factory 17” alloys. I’m going to be doing a two day “short distance traveled” race across Liwa in the UAE next year. That means long distances at low pressures. I’ve run 15 PSI many, many times but probably for not more that 5 hrs and on much smaller dunes.

I could go out and buy some bead lock wheels, but honestly, I’m trying to keep my budget sensible. I’m wondering if the bead depth on the stock tires will allow 10-12 psi for extended periods?

I have a 2 1/2 inch lift on Dobinson springs, and I’m probably gonna go for some 33 inch Yokohama Geolanders.

I would talk to your local trusted tyre shop. They should know, especially understanding the local conditions.

where I am, asking a local shop what they think one should get is a bit like asking a barber if you need a haircut… they just want to sell what they have on hand. There’s also a lot of received wisdom, some of it quite interesting.

That said, they know the game better than I do, for sure, I’m just curious to know what I can get away with before I start spending $$$, and the Grenadier is still an unknown outside this forum!
