For anyone who would like to go through the effort of pulling wires to use the factory Auxiliary light switch in the roof control panel to trigger a relay to turn on your aftermarket grill lights.

I pulled the wires this afternoon,
The wire on the switch you’re looking for is the Brown and yellow wire.

My Aux Light switch is on schedule to atrophy from lack of use.

I'm assuming that you tapped off the output of the switch. Is this a 12V signal? Do you have any idea where the relays are for the headlamps are? I don't see any fuses for these? How are they controlled?

It is a 12v output signal.
As far as I know, the headlights have no fuse or relay and are controlled by the BCM

In Australia our Auxiliary light switch can be used anytime but the lights are linked to the high beam switch.
I leave my auxiliary switch on all the time and whenever I use high beam the headlight s go from standard to high and the 2 auxiliary candles also come on.
Very different to some countries that require off road mode

As per UK and EU spec. The only issue I have is it needs switching back on after every ignition off, like the stop/start. In fact the only thing that doesn't reset are the courtesy lights!

Mine stays on most times.
The stop start also stays switched off if the motor is only turned of for a short while.
No idea about the courtesy lights, in fact i don't remember ever seeing any.

Is the 12v output only available in Offroad mode with brights on? Looking for a way to trigger my Baja Designs LP4 grill lights without being in Offroad mode.

Yes

I would like to bypass the relay for off road mode. The posts on here just talk about using one of the EXT switches which is easy enough. I may do that but then I would be annoyed to have a dead switch up there.

You and nearly the rest of us who are equally annoyed by a dead switch. Pretty sure and I hope I'm wrong, there is no easy solution.

Yeah you are probably right. Just thought I would ask to see if anyone had figured it out. At some point someone will so just a matter of keeping informed.

On another note although slightly related …. The locking of the ECU is a bit of a drag …. I have the Gap tool for my Landrovers and I was able to do things like program my own key, adjust suspension, turn on my daytime running lights even when dealer told me I did not have them on the LR3. The best was turning on the Dynamic mode on the Defender. Of course the Grenadier is a lot simpler but that is probably the only way we ever get into these granny things. If there was something like the GAP tool for the Grenadier.

I was intrigued that the NATO plug has a module in the rear that you can simply move the hot wire from one post to the other and bypass the whole thing. At first I was scared about that but it is controlled by a switch and a fuse so it does not really make it “hot”. So you would imagine that if they used a module like that for the NATO plug maybe there would be a module somewhere for the lights. It would be simple to have the Off Road mode is in the ECU so that a simple yes/no to a relay to indicate if it was on off road and another for the high beams to a module somewhere near the lights would be an easy way to design this and they did that before for the NATO plug so maybe it is just a matter of finding where this module is. Someone who has taken the car apart a little might trace the wire from the switch in the roof.

Another option as I mentioned before would be to run a a wire yourself from that roof switch to the hood area to activate a relay for the lights. I am sure the back of the switch would accept a connection. This involves a lot of removal of panels and passing through the firewall.
