Has anybody found aux outlets in footwells, under bonnet and fusebox.Had a quick look but cant see anything obvious.Do you have to remove covers.Quick start guide very vague not a good picture.

Bonjour,

search "Canny outdoors" on YouTube. John Canny, a member on this forum has an excellent video where he prepares his Grenadier for outback travel.. including uncovering and connecting the aux. outlets.

Also, with respect, this issue has been "done to death" on this forum... just do some searching... ;)

When trying to locate the wire ends in all 3 locations, look for a small amount of black electrical tape around black fabric tape used on the loom. That is the easiest way to home into the precise location, once you know the general areas too look. That black electrical tape is what is taping the wire ends to the black fabric tape of the loom.

On a right hand drive car, the under bonnet wire ends are near the airbox. Some owners found it easier to remove the airbox to help find the wire ends.

Would this location be on the left hand side for an American Car? Or would it always be located on the right hand side? Thank you for your videos.
Short answer yes. There will be wire ends in the passenger and driver side footwells. These wire ends are taped to the wiring loom and sometimes can be hard to find. Look for plastic tape around the loom's fabric tape, because often that plastic tape is holding the wire ends to the loom (this was the case with my car).

The standard power option gets you 3 wire ends, 10 amp under the bonnet, 10 amp in the right and left footwells. Look at Figure 2 and Table 2 in Rok Dr's Guide.

High aux power gets you more power options, for details see Figure 2 and Table 3 in the same Guide.

We can thank John Canny for the videos!

There are no wire ends, in the footwells, if your car is not fitted with the high power aux power option.
Yes there are, they are standard on ALL models irrespective of high power aux power option. I have single battery and no aux option but have footwell and 10amp under bonnet outlet

Thanks, you are correct, the footwell wire ends are part of the Standard power option. I will correct my earlier post and reference the Rok Dr Guide.

That may mean there are model differences between countries. In Australia it appears to be limited to those with high aux power option, which the AU Spec Trialmaster comes with, or you can select it in a base model Grenadier.
All UK models have them. On Aus models what do the overhead switches Power, and the other 3 do?? if no footwell outlets?

Has anyone been able to find a fuse or relay exclusively for EXT1? F128 in the underseat electrical center is for the entire overhead panel. It is hot whenever the overhead panel is on, even if EXT1 is switched off.

I would like to get power switched by EXT1 somewhere in the passenger compartment and not in the engine bay.

Thx.

Unfortunately F128 is for the entire overhead panel. F128 does not switch on and off with EXT1 only. I am hoping to find EXT1 switched power somewhere in the passenger compartment. And not in the engine bay.
Did you ever find an answer to this? Looking to run the EXT 1 into the cab also.

As far as I can see from the manual, and the efforts of others to document the unlisted “auxiliary” fuse/relay box for the roof and under bonnet 25A point, the only fuse I can’t find documented is EXT 1. I was just wondering if you had discovered it during your compressor install project.

I also want to use EXT 1 to switch a relay, but was hoping to run it from the fuse box instead of from under the bonnet. I can track it down, but it’s easier if someone already knows 🙂. Also good to know where to go to replace the fuse if necessary.

No, I could not find a fuse location that switched on/off with the EXT1 switch. I ended up running a positive 'signal' wire from the EXT1 power in the engine bay back into the passenger compartment where I needed it. I ran this signal to a relay which I powered using the big positive bus bar under the rear passenger seats.

Thanks. I think I will do the same. Where did you connect the cable back through to the cab?

Hi guys, today I connected Deutsch plugs to the two cable ends in the engine compartment (10 amp and 25 amp).
The 10 amp line is switched via switch EXT1 and the 25 amp via switch EXT5.

I used a Deutsch DT for the 10 amp and a Deutsch DTP (like on the roof) for the 25 amp.

I really struggled with this and was once again very annoyed about the assembly in Hambach and the development/construction.
Both cable ends are tied off so short from the thick cable harness that you must not have completed your 10th year of life for your hands to still fit in. It took me hours.
I have connected a high-voltage device with metal plates in the engine compartment and underneath to the 10 amp socket for marten repellent, which I only activate via the switch when necessary. My vehicle is usually parked in the garage.

However, the 25 amp socket has no voltage. I assume that this is related to the software issue in connection with the missing front winch and the Nato socket. This currently has no voltage either if you have not fitted a front winch. I will clarify this later.

During assembly, I discovered that the thin cables leading to the brake fluid reservoir sensor were so stretched that they would have torn off in the foreseeable future.
Again I was annoyed with the production people in Hambach. Surely this had to be noticed during assembly!

The easiest thing I could do was to build a strain relief. I pulled the whole wiring harness up a bit and the thin cable to the brake fluid reservoir was relaxed again.
Have any of you already fitted these cable ends with connectors? And do you have voltage on the 25amp socket? With or without front winch?

And by the way, how can you be so clumsy as to use some kind of insulation material in the engine compartment. Martens love that kind of thing. This shows that the developers have little practical experience.
Hey Rovie, I was thinking about teh same thing to install the marten repellent on the 10A in the engine room in my grenadier. if you would have a picture of where and how you installed it I would be very grateful. thnx a million upfront sir :-) Koen

I was considering using the 10A to install a rodent device under the bonnet. But ruled out that option because leaving the " power" button on and auxiliary switch 1 on for long periods of unattended time has been proven to flatten the battery. As my problem rodents are of the mice variety🐀, for the time being I've resorted to peppermint balls left in the engine bay
