Agile offroad a-pillar grab handle install

I bought this thing without realizing the interference with the air bag. It's pretty darn hefty. It's sitting on the shelf. Not sure I'll be installing it.

If INEOS sold the OEM right hand drive truck version, perhaps it's plug and play?

Great instructions in case I do. Thanks!
Ineos offers it, I was an early adopter and the part numbers can be found here in the forum. Mine in August of ‘24 was $450 for the handle, trim and hardware. I understand these parts have come down in price somewhat but they are still $$$.

I actually replaced both side grab handles this week with CNC machined cast aluminum units from Racefoxx in Germany. A pricey option but both were less than I spent on one from Ineos.

For what it’s worth these do not interfere with airbag operation as they were designed for the passenger side of left and right hand drive units.

What interference would that be?

The airbags are essentially identical left and right (they're handed of course) and when activated burst out from the gap between the grab handle and the door.

How much space/behind the grey A pillar at the bottom.

I bought the factory parts. Enjoy yours!

The operation is very evident from the pictures in the thread below, which shows clearly the disposition of the A-pillar airbags and the grab handle mountings. The A-pillars and fixings are identical on all vehicles, and if a handle can be fitted on the passenger side it can also be fitted on the driver side without affecting airbag operation. The Agile handles are not, so far as I can tell, substantially larger of differently shaped to the INEOS handles. You might however want to be careful with anything you attach to the utility rail on the Agile handles since you could conceivably fit something that the airbag then fires at you.

No offense, but forum bro science ain't my cup of tea. That Agile handle is a heavy duty piece of metal. I don't want it anywhere near eye level next to a deployant. I'm sticking with OEM. Enjoy!

No offence taken, but you seem not to have realised that I was addressing a concern about a second handle affecting the airbag, not the relative merits of OEM and Agile handles, which is a different question.

I think it is unlikely that your head will ever connect with the grab handle at all (if it did it would most likely be result of a second impact after the first impact has fired the airbags which have then deflated, apparently a very common cause of injury) but if it was to happen I'd rather my head connected with a soft OEM handle that a solid one. My second handle is an OEM one.

I'm not hip enough to understand "forum bro science" and personally always make an informed decision based on evidence, experience and hopefully good judgement.

Many owners are installing dual aftermarket A-pillar grab handles, such as Agile or Rockfoxx, etc. This means they have an oem grab handle on a shelf. Ask for one in the classifieds here in the forum. Save money, poke a few holes in your trim, and shazam.

FWIW, IA went without the driver's side airbag in the US because of some stupid rule dealing with the safety of UNBUCKLED drivers. Seriously - straight from Greg Clark.
