Hi Folks, At maximum adjustment (using the levelling wheel in the cab) my headlight high beams still don't seem to cast the light far enough compared to previously owned vehicles. I have the tow pack which I believe also gives you stronger springs at the rear axle and there's a very pronounced 'downward dog' stance to the vehicle when running empty. I know others have fitted front axle spring spacer kits to balance the front to back ride height, but this is a pricey option just to level the...
Team, this is just a quick call out for some help. Has anyone seen a DTP extension cable with an inline switch so that a number of accessories can be used via the roof power outlets while being individually switched? I have work lights on the left and right sides, together with the factor LED front lightbar. I wanted to install a Starlink mini and a rear work light and be able to switch each of these on and off individually. I have these components ...
Thread 'New collection of software errors'
With apologies if this is duplication or in the wrong area… My recent collection of software errors. Vehicle is a May 2024 petrol Trialmaster with software upgrade in July’23. Since then:- • regular massive variations in “remaining miles” of fuel depending on parking UP or DOWN my 1 in 8 (12%) drive. Never recovers from its lies until refuelled. • persistent startup false panic about braking problems; this relates to a genuine hardware fault of ABSsensor wires to right rear wheel...
With some winter driving, I noticed the headlights getting dimmer when getting gunked up with ice/crud. I'm surprised that with the offroad/ robust nature of the IG, that the headlights don't have anything to keep them clean. Lot's of SUVs have windshield wiper-fluid jets. I was thinking about adding plumbing to add headlight jets. Easiest to just add a line post the windshield wiper pump and run something the headlights??? Crazy?
Thread 'Battery'
Out in my car today after a few days of not being in it , and the state of charge is showing 0% but the voltage is up at 14.7v , is this okay or is it a concern?
I wasn't happy using the standard cig lighter so I bought the hardwire kit with fuse taps. Wondering if anyone else has used the fuse tap option and which fuse (fuses) were the best to use ?? Cheers, Chook :-)
I wonder if i should upgrade my standard auxiliary battery with a Victron Lithium Battery Smart 12,8V. In 200 Ah it has the dimensions of 237 x 321 x 152mm. Will it fit? Has someone fitted one of these already? What's the maximum dimension that fits under the rear bench?
Off road lights. How the heck do they come on. The dealer is even confused
Took delivery in July of a vehicle that probably got to the dealers lot in March/April. Twice now we have got warnings of low battery voltage, probably after or driving it for or a week or two. Bad battery, parasitic drain? Do have the dealer replace battery under warranty or jus tho buy new. Don’t want to waste time with the dealer if I won’t get a new battery or the parasitic drain taking care of.
Drove the IG first time in rain, since ownership in late summer. (Mainly drove to see how the safari windows fare against the rain). During the drive realized several aspects of new annoyances with the vehicle software. Posting contemporaneous notes here to vent, laugh at the vehicle, and see how others deal with it. - when front wiper is on with the gear in reverse, the rear wiper come on automatically. This cannot be overridden!? I spent 30 seconds or so trying to determine if I had...
Thread 'Installing aftermarket subwoofer under rear right passenger seat.'
This is a really tight fit. I mean there was a rubber mallet used to pusuade it to get in place tight fit, but it does fit with no damage to the enclosure or the vehicle. The factory subwoofer and brackerts were removed as well as the plastic trim piece on the right side. This is the enclosure I used. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U1I4NR2?tag=globalgrena0b-20 For $36 it was worth trying, even if I destroyed it during installation. Put a little polyfil in it and dropped in a shallow Focal...
Hi! Installed a Starlink Mini on Leitner load bars w/ the Striker Fab mount & DVA Mechanics power cable -- powered through EXT3, every time the engine starts power is interrupted or sags long enough for the Starlink Mini to reboot. Nominally the Starlink unit says it draws ~23 watts. Has anyone seen the same and/or found a fix for this? (Couldn't find it elsewhere on this forum) Thanks!
I was at my local dealer the other day getting my aux batter hooked up and saw a Trialmaster that had a CB/Ham antenna mount on the left front of the luggage rack and the coax ran into the left front roof electrical box. I asked the service manager if he knew how the coax was run down on the inside and he didn’t know. He said someone had just traded it in. What I am looking to do it mount a folding Ham antenna to the front left bar and then run the coax down under one of the front seats...
Iis this maybe the battery solution for the Grenadier? https://www.takethetruck.com/blog/overlanding-battery
Thread 'ROOF CONNECTORS : ==> FACTORY CABLE THICKNESS ?'
Hello guys, is there anyone who knows how is the (copper) thickness (or AWG level) of the cables which are going down from the four roof’s sockets to the AUX POWER FUSE BOX (look at attached file, box located beetween main battery and the 7 stud busbar, under rear seats) ? And do you know how these four cables are fixed on the AUX POWER FUSE BOX, with nuts or welded ? Thank you very much. Jean
Thread 'Overhead console panel, adding switches or gauges.'
MORE4X4 from Australia (Sydney) recently released its onboard airbag bag information system. As part of the system two switches and a gauge were mounted on the overhead console panel. Their solution was well designed and implemented - brilliant design. Here are some images. More images here.
Thread 'Disconnecting Power / Batteries for truck with dual batteries'
Hi all - I've worked on vehicles before, but never anything with two batteries. Instructions say: Disconnect the ground connection to the Battery Combiner. Remove the Negative (-) terminal on both the Start and Auxiliary Battery. Never allow contact between the Battery Cables and conductive metal parts, for example, the vehicle body. Perform Service Work. Re-assemble in the opposite order. Check that there is no fault indication on the Battery Combiner LEDs. All I see on the batter...
Hi, I am in the middle of deciding on an amp to add to my audio system to drive a 10” subwoofer box 500w @ 2ohms. I intend to use the speaker level outputs already pre wired from the factory for the stock JBL subwoofer option. I however after doing some research on the high level inputs of most aftermarket amps they usually specify a max input voltage of 12volts. That is in the range of 36watts into 4 ohms. That seems low, but may be sufficient? Does any one know the max watts in to 4ohms or...
Thread 'Grenny and Me: An Old-School ADAS Workaround'
Alright, before we dive in, let’s clear one thing up—I take full responsibility for my ADAS mod. If you don’t agree with it, don’t do it. Simple as that. This solution works for *me*. I didn’t buy my Grenny (aka my beloved Grenadier) to feel like I’ve got a full-time babysitter riding shotgun. I even sold my G63 because all those nanny systems sucked the joy out of driving. The problem, and reason I'll never part with my Grenny is its pure magic. She’s got so much personality and is a...
Thread 'Defective head unit ECU - again!'
Hello, some of you may remember my thread from January 2024. https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/black-infotainment-screen.12414276/ When we finally took delivery of our Grenadier with a new head unit ECU on 01.03.2024, we assumed that that was it. Wrong thinking, as it turned out today. On Monday, we dropped the Grenny off at the dealer, for renewal of the four door seals and three campaigns, including software update 1.4 for MY23. The truck was supposed to be ready for collection...
