Wiring LED BAR - looking for a positive post

Hey folks,

I‘ll start wiring up my Strands LED-bar. It comes with a day light driving light, which needs a seperate positive connection. The regular positive and negative connection will be realized over the EXT 5.
Does anyone in this community can give a small hint, where to find a positive post under the hood?

Could you attach it to the jump post?

The jump post is always live. You want something that is ignition switched, otherwise the DRLs will be on all of the time.
Maybe you could tap into the existing drl wiring, I don't know it is canbus or not. Maybe somebody will know.

Actually saying that, some clever ones react on voltage, so I might be wrong.

If they see 12v they don't turn on, if they see over 13v they turn on as the engine is running. It might mention that in the installation instructions.

Ok, so yes, you can connect the light bar to the red jump start post.

Actually, since the current rating is 19A and EXT5 is 25A you could take the power from EXT5.

Personally I think I would wire it this way

Connect the light bar to EXT5, both + and -

Connect the white wire to EXT5 +

Tap into the headlight+ wiring with the grey wire.

In this way, leaving EXT5 permanently switched on you will get DRLs when the engine is running and full power when you are on high beams.

Just a suggestion, many ways to do it of course.

Yes, that‘s nearly what I planned.
Connect + and - to EXT 5
White zu positive jump start so the DRL ist on while engine is running.
I will leave grey without connecting since I only use the bar in XP mode.
