Window Tint Cost

Hello- I just got a quote to do a ceramic tint on all windows (excluding windshield). $680 and $199 for the Safari windows. $680 sounds like a lot but what doesn't cost a lot these days. $199 for the Safari windows sounds ridiculous to me considering they can be removed. Anyone care to share their thoughts and what you paid? Thanks!

I paid that for a 4 door truck with high quality materials.. It has the extra rear quarter windows so should be right.

I've had a number of vehicles tinted in the past. The most important thing to check is the Total Solar Energy Rejected. The higher the TSER %, the more solar heat is rejected. Every reputable manufacturer will publish these figures as part of a table that includes the percentage tint, TSER, IR rejection, visible light transmission (VLT), etc.

The Grenadier has some fairly flat windows. So it should not be that difficult to apply tint to. If the windows or windshield are curved somewhat (usually convex) then the tinter usually has to use a heat gun to "shrink wrap" the tint before final application. Flat glass means no heat shrink, which should lower labor costs.

Also make sure you're using a good ceramic tint.

that film comes in 49-66% solar rejection. i have 66% on mine (an xpel product). It is noticeable cooler with the solar film even though i don't have it very dark.
on the safari windows i tinted it pretty dark.

i think you will be very happy with that film. its outstanding, at least mine is at 66%. the other values where comparable. i live in a very high cost city, i paid $700 for side windows, safari windows and one other unrelated thing.

I have GeoShield Pro Nano ceramic 70% on our Honda Odyssey. I have 3M Crystalline 80 with a slightly lower TSER on two other vehicles. And I swear the 3M Crystalline cuts down the heat significantly more effectively than the GeoShield. Based on that, I do NOT recommend GeoShield. I know it's the darling of the DIY community, but it's just not nearly as good as 3M Crystalline.

I paid $600 for ceramic tint on the front 2 and clear uv on the windshield. I thought that was high but $200 each/Miami, probably not too bad. Also lifetime guarantee from a shop with history. Miami Auto Spa ( I guess I should give them a shout ). First Grenadier they have seen 1st quality job!

I paid about what @Mike24Ineos paid for XPEL Nano Ceramic IR Plus film on the front driver, passenger and windshield. My Grenadier had privacy glass and I will post a picture later, but with the tint meter's reading of the IR rejection from the privacy glass was comparable to the XPEL film (IR Rejection 96% at 5%). Not sure if the privacy glass is covering the same frequency range that the XPEL does. Anyway, In Los Angeles sun and heat in the summer ceramic tint is a huge benefit; I would highly recommend getting the windshield done too. I purchased some safari window covers from DVA Mechanics and the certainly block the heat from the sun when installed.

I just had mine done at San Rafael in Marin County, very near the dealership. I wasn't happy with my factory tint, so I had it all tinted except for the windshield and safari windows, which I did myself.

The name of the shop is Precise Auto Tint & Audio. He uses Johnson Windows Films. It is supposed to be better than Ceramic in heat blocking and only charge me $550 plus tax. Contact them and look for the owner Lou. 4152589672. Shop is also Tesla Dealership recommended.

Nice to know the privacy glass is this effective. I originally asked for uv protection all around. Then I got the estimated cost..
Haven't felt the temps in the dead of summer, but the occasional 80+ days have been fine.
