Why did pricing jump for me so much this year?

Currency costs could be part of it, with building it in Austria, and it being a UK-based company.

The tariff costs are 15%, aren't they? My Canadian trailer build was only a $700 tariff for steel content, so I might be overlooking the true tariff costs.
Development in Austria at Graz by Magna Steyr but made in Hambach in France. EU tariffs

I spec'ed out a Grenadier SW last year, but was not in a position to complete the sale at the time. With the $8K rebate, I was at ~$76,500. Today, I am at ~$91,000. 😮

I am in East Texas and have been working with Sewell Grenadier in Dallas, TX. No rebates or incentives right now too. I could see a few thousand in price increase, however, ~$15K is a lot for the same build (specs). While I don't really care about the $1,000 of free accessories available at the time, the loss of the $8K rebate for tariffs and a similar general price increase is huge!

I am looking at a custom build, if you will, not a general spec build, with the Rough Pack, and similar stuff for harder off-road use. So, I am not expecting the deepest discounts either. However, this price rise is putting me off pretty hard as it seems a bit like price gouging.

Am I missing some basic pricing facts, or was my 2024 offer unusually good? With a $91K sticker price, can I still get the same vehicle in the ~mid-$80K range today?

TIA,
Sid

p.s. I am rolling in a 2nd Gen Tacoma with Dana 60 in the rear, and I am putting in a Marlin Crawler front end with LC200 steering rack, and possibly an an Atlas transfer case right now.

Well, we want what we want.

I might add to the others that have suggested that you might just want to prioritize what's important to you, and shop from there. I ended up buying used, found a barely driven Trialmaster for almost $20k off new. All I cared about was front and rear lockers.

It seems that additional 10% tariff is coming for products from seven European countries, including France and from 01. June 25% because of the support for Greenlands sovereignty.

In the past Trump and JR found friendly words for each other. Would be interesting, if that would be still the case today

Tariffs go on, tariffs go off. Then they go back on, then they go off again. How the hell can you run a business under these conditions?

Nor should you. There are moron supporters here on the site, and they revealed themselves. Maybe tell them to f**k off like I do. Fascism is in the wire, and people just watch and complain… everyone afraid to offend the perpetrators. 🤷‍♂️

Tell me about it…..

My import duties went from $2.5K per vehicle kit to $11.5K killing my business.

It’s the first time I feel like writing something related to politics here.
If DT does not step back from his plans regarding Greenland than the fate of NATO is on the table.
The western leaders (also they might not been seen as such in parts of the USA) made a fist in their pocket many times the last years.
But I can not think of a way that Greenland goes to the USA against the will of its inhabitants without blowing the relationship with the states for at least a decade. It’s about trust and honesty. And a lack of both will kill the partnerships in the western world!
The EU should have signed the first tariff deal (15%EU vs. 0% USA) next week.
Guess what is on hold right now.

It’s time Europe grew some balls and pushes back against this bullstuff. No more of this Macron playing good cop, it’s full on bad cop time. I have always told my staff the standard you walk past is the standard you set, same in politics.

Please stop the political commentary or the thread will be locked. We really do not want politics or religion discussions here. You are naturally free to think and feel as you wish but this is not the place to express those views. There are many other forums in the ether to discuss such matters.

You are absolutely right.
So I just point out that the prices for the Grenadier and the Quatermaster in the USA might rise another 10 to 30 % within the next 12 months. This might be caused by a weeker US$ and economical based decisions by administrations.
This would not support the company nor the potential buyer nor the owner that will probably face fewer service stations in their neighbourhood.

So what happens when politics puts the very thing that brings us together at risk? We pretend it’s not happening? Not sure if this has been raised before but can we have a thread where we can talk politics and those that choose to can ignore?

No politics here. There are many political forums elsewhere on the web.

I’m not pretending anything in the world is or isn’t happening. We’ve been very clear since day one that this is not the place for such discussions. There’s no reason to be passive aggressive towards me, the forum, or any members on this matter.
