My Grenadier drivetrain makes a loud whine noise when I am cruising along at a constant speed. If it is not under load the noise stops... I think they all do this, I am curious is it the differentials, drive shafts or the transmission that I hear making the noise?

Being the engineering geek that I am, I want to try to reduce the noise..

I get whine from my front diff under power which peaks at 92kph/57mph, improved with diff oil change at last service but still there. Loan Grenadiers I have driven are don't have this whine. Will be escalating the issue at my next service, the dealer requires a sound recording to submit to Ineos for evaluation.

Isn’t part of the reason is the transfer box gear driven?

Well if you say anything on here enough times it becomes a fact :p
But yes, straight gear transfer cases tend to be louder than chain drive.

Ineos think it more an undocumented and no extra cost feature of the axle design. See the dealer bulletin attached to my post above.
