This weekend we're busy. The HZJ 78 receives a camping interieur, my son-in-law is in a carpentry apprenticeship. I work on my 90ty, many small things and then a guy knocked at the door who saw us and introduced himself. He has seen us and he purchased a 90ty V8 Softop a few days ago and he's looking for connections....we had a nice chat...

Oh yes 👍

It’s the same age as me and was originally sold by a garage I actually worked at as a teenager. Weird coincidence. My old boss actually sold it brand new! He’s an old man now but vaguely remembers it, they didn’t sell too many in signal yellow .

Previous owner lived in Ireland, had the shell modified to build a group 4 rally car (rear firewall, turrets, big tunnel, big arches etc) and then changed his mind. I am making a fun road car out of it. Under 1000kg and over 200bhp so should be quick but not too mental.

The work of two weekends....

As the engine is ready to get back into its car, we needed to rearrange the vehicles. We pulled the 101 to the front next to the lift, so I can lift the engine and put it back via the passenger door.

In addition I fitted new auxiliary lights to my 90ty, two Osram VX250-SP on the bumper as auxiliary high-beam lights and a Hella Black Magic 40" DRC as a working light, replacing my Nolden AR83 working lights. I just wanted to have something new and change the look, somewhat.

My son-in-law nearly finished his Land Cruiser camping interieur.

This is a very much in the future <work to be progressed>.
In recent years my wife has become quite besotted with 4x4 and camping You Tubes etc.
She tolerates my classic car habit , possibly because I remind her I do all the mechanical / restoration work and the vehicles appreciate in value ('useable superannuation")
She suggested when we are retired we "buy a van and fix it up" for touring. Mercedes Sprinter.
I don't think she knows how much they're worth in our part of the world. A fair bit. But they're a fine bus.
However the concept has merit and our offspring would benefit from the occasional use of said van.
I'm not sure they'd be allowed to use our caravan!
My Fair Lady will no doubt have lots of ideas i.e. project manager - whilst I contemplate the work ahead.
But IMO anything's better than golf when you're retired.

Anyway the line in the sand has been sort of drawn, as per Maurice Wilks on Red Wharf Beach in Anglesea.
Landy owners will know what I'm on about!
I'll continue to cut and paste ideas from this and other threads for this virtual build.
"Thank you for your attention!"
