I'm sure there must be a thread on this already somewhere, but I apparently I'm an idiot with the search tool. If I type "37 inch" into the search tool, it gives me all hits with "37" and with "inch" - and the ones that do happen to have those two words together primarily relate to the LeTech with Portal Axels.

All that being said, I find myself with a set of 6 new 37x12.5x17 tires (for reasons that I won't bore you with). That had me wondering, "Surely some crazy mofo has fit these on the Grenadier already, I wonder what it took to fit those?"

And before you respond with all the reasons why 1 inch wide 19 inch tall tires are by far the superior choice for off-roading the Grenadier, please note that I'm not trying to debate whether 37's make sense or are a good choice, rather I'm trying to figure out if its been done (other than the portal axels) and if so, what did it take? There is already 34 pages of debate on what the best size tire is for the Grenadier, so please feel free to give your opinion on why large tires are stupid in that in that thread here. But if you happen to know if 37's have been done and what it took to fit them and not rub, I'd appreciate that feedback.

Honestly I don't know if anyone has actually tried more than doing the numbers..... When I turn full in with 35's the closes thing to hit my fist still fits between.... So unless its under compression or something like that not sure why it wouldn't just depending how wide you actually go... Since you said 12.5, my current (actual) 35s are 285's or 11.2" that might be a big difference. When I had my tires fitted they didn't have any to test with so I'm waiting till I get tired of this set.

I'm on 35x12.5's and had slight rub on the front part of the fender where it joined the front bumper. I now have the TCC bumper and have more room and have been wondering the same about 37's now.

A bit of R&D to do it right whenever upsizing tires whether 35s or 37s. I'm guessing a decent 2.5" lift with some strategic cutting will get it done.
  • Regear for sure if 37s
  • Aftermarket control arms to get caster in spec (hopefully wheel base doesn't deviate too much from stock)
  • Aftermarket driveshaft front and perhaps rear (a silent, reliable solution doesn't exist currently AFAIK)
  • Sway bar drop brackets or some flavor of this (rear too)
  • Extended brake lines
IG aftermarket ecosystem needs more time to marinate because someone's going to offer the right solutions the right way someday (e.g. deltavs for Land Cruisers). There's still a lot of rushing to first-to-market fluff atm.

I've thought about this a lot too. I think the Nitto 37x11.5R17 might be your best chance at clearing 37s. I'd keep the factory wheels as you'll want that deep offset to keep them from swinging into the fender liner and frame.

Why would you need any of this??? Extended brake lines because a tire is 2" taller?? You trolling right??

Extended brake lines would only apply if you are using shocks considerably longer than OEM. And if you do that then kiss the transfer case CV on your front drive shaft goodbye. And unless you are running extended bump stop using taller spring will do nothing to increase tire clearance either. Tenac is right on when suggesting the narrowish Nitto 37x11.5 tire with factory offset wheels. The tires would swing through a smaller arc which is much less likely to make contact with the fenders or suspension components and the 11.5" width also helps in this regard. As for someone documenting the successful use of 37" tires here on the forum, I have not seen it.

I can't answer your question but I can tell you that if you type site:theineosforum.com "37 inch" into Google you will get the search results you seek. Google is usually better at searching forums than the forums' own search tools, and the first part of the string above tells google only to search on that particular website.

That's awesome thanks!

I wonder if 37x12.5R17 would fit with my 2.5" lift and the wheels I have with a offset that brings them out just past flush with the fender flares...

I bet they swing right into the front fender liner and maybe even the cooler behind it. Maybe not while static and turning but certainly at the first dip in the road.
