What did you do with your Grenadier today?

@KristinaM no part number on the filter that came in the petrol B58 snorkel/airbox kit. Not sure if it’s manufactured by Uni-Filter but it’s not foam, rather looks to be oiled cotton gauze, akin to a K&N. Seems to be of high quality.

Interesting. I’m still trying to identify why the UniFilter Australia CP1 85/140 pod filter isn’t compatible with the petrol variant of this airbox. According to Canna Fabrication it should be. :-) I assume Rohan doesn’t ship the airbox with an adapter for a 85mm input?

The UniFilter Australia CP1 85/140 filter has an 85mm flange, 140mm length, and 115mm O.D

I went to the grocery store and bought Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Someone……forgot it when they went to the store. Guess who (it was a chick)?
Count your wins when you can get them Rupert, in the last 35 + years I think I was right or remembered to get something she forgot once, but I can't remember when asked what it was, of cause I forget something at least once a day.
Good idea to write it down, I wish I did that one time I was right 20 odd years ago.

I rubbed shoulders with actual forum royalty today. @Rok_Dr was in Brisbane on other business and reached out to me for a meet-up. Neither of us live in Brisbane but it was worth the effort to get together at the Brisbane Motor Museum and discuss our favourite vehicles. Done with that, the talk turned to all things Grenadier.

I can confirm that Steve is real. He's also just as nice a guy as you would expect given his long standing and generous contributions to the forum via his unofficial owner's manual supplement. It was a pleasure spending time with you today Steve.

Disclosure: Steve paid for lunch so this is a sponsored post 😉

My invite must have gotten lost in the mail. 😉

Not sure if I’m royalty though but likewise it was a pleasure to meet you as well Glenn. However you did buy the coffee so it was joint sponsorship I reckon 😊

I’ll also be looking forward to to meeting other queensland owners on Monday evening at ignition

Cheer Steve

An "Ikea" table for the Utility Belt....

During my recent camping trip in Death Valley, it would have been handy to have a table that I could use when the kitchen with its work surfaces wasn't deployed. It would also be useful when the kitchen was deployed, for example it could be set up as a condiment table. I wanted something that could set up in seconds and wouldn't take up much storage space when it wasn't in use. On the long drive back home to Delaware, I thought about it and came up with a design.

It's a simple side table which mounts to the Utility Belt. A mounting rail attaches to the Utility Belt with thumbscrews and a rail on the edge of the table that slips over the mounting rail. The mounting rail installs in seconds and can either be carried inside the vehicle until needed or it can be installed at the beginning of a trip for instant use:

For now I've left the mounting rail long; other things could be hung on the free ends but I may cut it just outside the thumbscrews.

The table slips onto the mounting rail:

The table is a $12.99 Ikea bamboo cutting board: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/aptitlig-cutting-board-bamboo-80233430/. A larger or different table could be used but for the price this one works nicely.

The table doesn't support too much weight with just the mounting hardware on the edge, so I added two supports made from webbing, they hook over the drip rail and are adjustable.

I left the Ikea branding...

Next I'll sew a simple storage bag for it.

Switching over from summer camping to winter skiing / climbing. I removed my fridge for the next few months and build a wood base using some old Engle slide lock feet. This secures into the existing Engle slide I installed just like the fridge does.

Now I can have bins that slide out for wet ski boots and things / keep it contained in the back.

I will carpet it as well and add some lash points like on my upper deck.

I thought about building a fancy 6”High box / drawer to match the height of my raised deck but simple base piece of 1/2” plywood was better here I think.

Neat. Where did you get the mounting rails and rook hooks from?

Cheers Steve

It's a common extrusion used in the RV industry in the U.S. for mounting tables to walls. I found the piece I used on eBay, but here's an RV components supplier that carries it: https://www.rvupgradestore.com/AP-Products-013-164922-RV-Table-Wall-Mount-Support-p/20-3700.htm.

The thumbscrews/L-track mounts I found on eBay as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3659093294...pid=5338980679&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

And of course the table is a cutting board from Ikea.

Towed the camper up to Lake Burton with the Grenadier for the first time. What an absolute difference between towing with the Grenadier and my old Jeep. Just chugs along like a champ. Jeep engine power (Pentastar) always felt anemic. Grenadier felt crazy planted and didn't even work up a sweat in the hills. Very pleased!

Not sure how others will feel about this but I didn't like the Grenadier's white LED tail lights. So ... I covered the flat main part of the light with a see-through red tinted wrap. This is designed for lights and so it's meant to be transparent while shading the light red. As you can tell, it retains the look of the original, just with a red tint. Probably not for everyone, but I like it better.

The white lights are your reverse lights….not sure what WA state’s regulations are but you may be in violation…
