What did you do with your Grenadier today?

I wanted to ask on here if anyone did that! Good to see. They’re too bright. I’d also love to dim the screen. “0%” at night is too light for my preference. And can we all admit a dimmer would be much easier to change as needed?

A pack of pocket tissues fits perfectly over the warning lights.

Finally got and installed the smoked plastic cover for the telltale cluster (after covering one annoying and unnecessary idiot light with black tape). This might not be ideal for everyone, but I'm quite happy with the result.

Leaving before dawn on Thursday morning, I drove 1700 miles in two days to get to Denver, I'm on my way to Las Vegas to attend the SEMA Show. And after the show, we'll be exploring offroad and camping in Death Valley, followed by some trail time in the Moab, Utah area. The drive was fine and the Grenadier performed very well, but the first 600 miles weren't too much fun because it was pouring rain all the way from home in Delaware almost to Indianapolis. At the hotel in the Denver area:

But the rain was a good test - mounted on the ladder is a preproduction sample Ladder Bag from Overland Outfitters. And next to it on the spare is one of their SpareHopper bags. I'm carrying some gear and also warm clothing in the bags for the run west over the Rocky Mountains tomorrow and on arriving at the hotel I checked and as expected everything in the bags is perfectly dry.

One of the nice things about the way the Ladder Bag attaches is that when the ladder is needed, the clips on one side can be undone and the bag swung out of the way.

The SpareHopper has been in production for several years and the Ladder Bag is just now being manufactured and will be shipping in about two weeks. Both are made from acrylic fabric that is extremely UV- and weather-resistant and both have built-in stiffeners so they keep their shape, unlike most bags that hang off the spare.

The Ladder Bag is now on the OO web site at https://tinyurl.com/2r9ky84m (at an introductory price). BTW OO ships worldwide, and orders from outside the US are shipped directly from the craftsmen in India.

It uses adhesives along the edges to bind to the trim around the telltale cluster. Does it look factory? Not fully, but I'd say it's close. I just installed it and while I haven't been driving with it, the illuminated symbols that matter seem to still be sufficiently visible (for me this is one of those cases where less is more). I generally prefer the polished finish of the cover to the matte finish of the recessed cluster screen. I'd also add that the smoked color seems essential. You can buy it in clear plastic but for me that wouldn't work and I think it would be likely to look a lot more like a non-factory piece. For fifty bucks, what the heck?

What springs did you have on the front from the factory? I’m about to add a winch and need to upgrade but want to keep stock shocks.

My oem springs are the heavier duty oem to accommodate the winch. They held up phenomenally well with the bumper and winch. I just eanted a bit more level and clearance.

I'm on the same path @Krabby. I didn't take the factory winch option when I ordered. I did order the roo bar. My vehicle came with the green dot front springs. That's the softest spring in the range.
I don't want (or need) to do a lift but I will add an aftermarket winch and bar at some point.
I just picked up a set of red dot springs off another owner who has done a lift. Ineos fitted the red springs to his Grenadier with winch and roo bar so red is the matching spring for that combination.
Green is 1364 to 1417kg.
Red is 1417 to 1470kg.

I'm sure you could pick up a set of red or even blue front springs from a forum member if you put out a request.

This is the first time I’ve seen this. I was under the impression from the dealer that there were two. So, what would be the circumstances a stock car comes with black? And if one were to add an LRA tank, they could add the appropriate rear factory springs, maintain stock heights, and not go aftermarket?

I did put a wanted post in the classifieds but not luck thus far. I was figuring reds would work but will see what opportunities come my way.

I plan to go with the LFD center bumper insert (which won’t add as much weight as a full steel bumper) and a Warn Zeon which lives somewhere between 80 and 100 pounds (36-45 kilos) depending on which website you look at. I haven’t put my truck (as is) on a scale but might later in the week as I’m adding a roof rack Weds. That number will dictate the decision I suppose.
