To many people to thank for help and pioneering the mod. Today I added my Midland GMRS radio with the antenna attached to the lashing bar and cable run through the Aux point. I ran cable down the inside of B pillar. Currently the radio is in the center console. I think I'm going to move it to behind the glove box but that will be a later date when I have to connect to the aux cables.

Revision 2.0

Here I made a second unit...first was only using two screw mounts. Here I am using 4 screws. I used 1/4 plastic tubing as a spacer to keep the place from scratching the factory plate. I bought a 35mm bolt for the long screw replacment, but I think it is still too short ( it wont tighten).
The mount and ball I am using is from Tackform (I had this on my Bronco). It's an anti-vibration unit.

I started with a scrap piece of aluminum I bought from my scrap recycling yard.

Cut it down and drilled holes, and tapped one hole. Painted with Bed Liner paint (great stuff!)

Small standoff to protect the OEM plate and graphics.

Here I preserved the "Seat Heating" description.

Chapeau. Much less sophisticated, i use a cheap silicone piece (from Ebay). Smartphone is stowed away, is connected and being charged, does not rattle. Phone, navigation, music etc. I operate through the central display. Almost zero Android issues.

I have discovered that I can start the car, put it in drive and move the car with my drivers side door open. I thought this cannot be done. I must be the special one. Next time, I will try having the bonnet open to see if I can start the car.
Not so special ;-) : Reversing with trailer
