Just a follow up - Neve has got back to me to advise that Compass would be able to
have a look at my vehicle but neither they nor IA are able to assist with transport costs
as AA cover has expired !
Really not sure what to do now as I was led to believe at time of purchase that the
warranty was 'all embracing'.

Not right that IA has shut so many dealers in the south east plus others but sadly a warranty will never cover transport costs. Yes, you are only in the UK but in theory you could be anywhere in the world and require recovery during the warranty period. The problem is the closure of dealerships here after purchase when the assumption was you would have local service backup. I would contact Lynne Calder direct and point out the issue and ask what she can do as an early adopter/supporter and your understanding of how service was going to be available and now you are out of pocket due to a failure of the vehicle

Two avenues to follow; first - some diagnosis; is there coolant in it? Are all the fuses intact? (Remember there are two coolant circuits and two filler caps). Could it be electronics crying wolf or is there a real issue?

Second avenue - write stroppy letter to Chief Executive, Ineos Automotive explaining the problem and your required solution. Talk to trading standards (free!) to get the legal position and then seek further guidance.

(As a general rule with road rescue companies, get the vehicle to the dealer as a priority and stick the people on public transport or make other arrangements, as the vehicle movement is usually the costly one).

Classic insurance providers response, "Don't buy your policy cover purely on price". For little cars, like my classic sports cars it is often cheaper to arrange recovery with a local contractor, but for something as heavy as a Grenadier, you are going to need a 'proper' recovery vehicle.

Establish if it is really broken, (anyone know how the water pump is driven?) If it is sensors, it can be driven.

I had a similar battle. They threatened to take my car away unless I paid. They changed their minds when I called the police.

Never ever use green flag.

Early this afternoon and 10mins into a drive from Reading ( Uk ) to home in
Hampshire the dashboard engine temperature warning activated with yellow
advice that engine was overheating.

It is about maintaining... my reputation
After the oil change this morning I drove 860 km home in about 10 hours and I had to refuel on German motorways or highways or like the Kraftwerk song "autobahn"

Concerning my oil change this morning...

• The very friendly and motivated technician gave me some interesting technical information (for me) and I showed him the high position for the motor hood and we spoke English and Portuguese... he lived some years in Brasil (my German is very very basic)
• But ... the only guy who had the knowledge to reset the maintenance warning of my car was not in the workshop that day. , therefore I drove home without a reset.

I have discovered that I can start the car, put it in drive and move the car with my drivers side door open. I thought this cannot be done. I must be the special one. Next time, I will try having the bonnet open to see if I can start the car.

I also discovered (on the HVAC) that in feet mode ONLY, fan speed 4 doesn’t produce the high frequency shrill noise (mine doesn’t) How odd.

Also, another thing I discovered after testing for a couple of weeks. A lot of people complain about vague, loose, dead steering. So on a COLD engine, I used a turkey baster to take out some steering fluid so it’s slightly above minimum level. On 36 psi, my steering can turn lock to lock with ease. Return to centre has improved (but not perfect). I have to assist ever so slightly towards the end. Lock to lock, there is a couple of extra degrees where you can slightly force it. Well I no longer need to, It’s smooth all the way, lock to lock. The steering is much more accurate with no vague steering, and much better cornering. So, the need to modify the steering damper isn’t necessary. I can whizz round country corners with much more confidence. One other major discovery is the power steering whining noise is not as loud (it’s still there, but not piercing loud). I have discovered that this solution will vary between different climates due to expansion in the reservoir. What might work in the UK may not be as effective as in the Aus/South Africa etc.

It's funny you wrote this today as I am at airport and was going to write an observation. Yesterday, I opened my hood looking at how I was going to run cable. I noticed my steering fluid has decided to try the overflow hole. Its hotter now versus when I first got my QM. The tank was filled to just below max when I picked it up. Well I wipe the tank down and took a baster and took fluid out to about 3/4. I drove it to pick up my daughter and I felt a difference in steering. The lock to lock got better.

That’s right. I been experimenting for weeks now. I find just above minimum level is best. I use a clean towel to wipe down the stalk to get an accurate measure on a cold engine.

Is this a good spot to mount my phone? I made a bracket for my Tackform phone mount (from my Bronco)..... I added two rubber washers behind the mounting plate.

I did a little research.... this is just brass inserts into plastic!
