Well how life changes in a day....... this trip is now cancelled.
Yesterday while I was posting this my wife was having a routine CT Scan that she has every 3 months to check that her cancer problems haven't returned.
Unfortunately it has returned in numerous locations around her abdomen and 2 locations in her spine.

Surgery not an option so we will find out more next week on treatment options.
Sunday is Mother's Day and the doctor advised we should make the most of it. It may likely be her last.

Sorry to hear that Dave - Claire and I are thinking of you and praying that all turns out as well as possible. I’ve haven’t been on the forum much of late as I’ve been having a few problems with the ticker, but it pales into insignificance compared to what you are facing. Keep your chin up mate.

Today I fitted the Almont diff guards under my car, but it took more time than expected. Although the holes for the bolts were protected by plastic studs, the threads were corroded. So I had to "re-thread" them, or better said: "clean the thread". Luckily I had the tool, inherited from my father!

Finally the front diff guard was OK.

Beware, unless Almont changed its design, the diff guard should be modified for right hand driver Grenadiers as @Logsplitter showed in this thread https://www.theineosforum.com/threa...adier-today.12411127/page-233#post-1333294927

The rear diff was quite straightforward (but I also cleaned the thread - I have the car two years now and something like 56000 km).

But i was in communication with @Logsplitter who told me there was another design problem with this guard: heavy loaded or in heavy terrain the back guard will rub on full articulation.

Therefore I removed it and did cut a piece:

Finally got around to cutting mine. Had to do in situ as one of the hex bolts has rounded out. Will tackle that next time it's on a lift. Rear diff pinion seal seems a bit weepy. Will have to check the level.

Tried out two more b-day 'gifts'. Ordering items for my parents and tacked two items in to their order and told them to put them in a gift bag and it was just what I wanted! Folks were very happy to do so. Got the Rhino tire deflator set. Did a test. Set to 20psi and when I put the Dewalt on to re-inflate it read 21.5. Pretty close. Need to do a test where I set all 4 the same setting and check how all 4 perform. Just an initial test today. I also suffer from the loss of one of plugs by the windshield wipers. Don't know why the plugs exist but someone else on the forum had posted to these silicone ones from Amazon. Sub $8 and I got a couple spares. Kinda of a tight fit. Glad I could crawl on my fenders treadplate. You can tell the OEM one is hard plastic and the replacement is soft silicone but it beats a hole.

Do you happen to have the link and size of those silicone plugs 4x4Brick #1561 ? I am missing the same factory plug.

Here is what was recommend elsewhere on this site. Repeat - tight fit but it doesn't feel like they are going to be popping off anytime soon.

Installed replacement EGR Coupling Arms (per Mandatory Work Order 2880) after one of ours gave up.
Five days shipping from Sydney to Medellín, and then just five minutes to install.

If you’re ever doing a field fix (this for diesels obvs) you will find that the actuators cycle after engine shut off.
Easiest approach then is to fit to actuator end, start/stop the engine, then fit to the valve end as the actuator cycles.

Great support provided by both Ineos US and our delivery/home agent, Purnell Adventure.

I found this as well when I installed the tuning box as you have to remove one of the plugs the fits into the actuator body, it was like there was a ghost in the machine

Added Baja Squadron SAE fog lamps to the bumper... wired to EXT1. It was a lot harder than I expected. Even with taking the side bumpers off. Probably 6 hours of work. 1 hour of that was fishing the lines. Those EXT1 lines in the engine bay are ridiculously short and hard to work with too.

Sorted a solution to fixing maxtrax to one standard RR roof bar.

Welded up 2 brackets that sit over the roof bars with tabs that bolt into the side. Ontop of these the Maxtrax studs bolt on. simple DIY solution I thought id share!
