We ate a Grenadier at lunch time

Battered with chips (UK chips not American chips/crisps)
Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about that

“Several attempts have been made to establish a commercial fishery for the most common larger species, such as the giant grenadier, but the fish is considered unpalatable, and attempts thus far have proven unsuccessful.“

Which goes to show one of two things:
  1. Almost anything tastes good when it’s been deep fried
  2. The British palate has evolved as a defensive mechanism against the taste of Marmite
I want to be open-minded about both options.

You're probably right on both points 👍
