Vin number insurance issue

Hi there this is my first post. I’ve ordered a couple of vehicles in Toronto Canada. It seems like the insurance companies cannot identify the Vin numbers to actually insure the vehicles. I find this to be completely absurd. Does anyone have any info on this or have you come across the same issue when registering these trucks? I feel it might be just a glitch relating to something on Ineos end. Newly imported vehicles may not have hit the system yet. It doesn’t make any sense to me when I see other Grenadier‘s driving around town. Do they know something I don’t ? Lol

You might be on too something when you say "not in the system yet". Not sure how long you've had your ride but I've had similar issues when getting early allocation of a few cars in the past. The insurance company couldn't get the green light for the VIN research for about two weeks, but it seems like the same time my actual plate came in it was good too go. However you would think Ineos would have populated the list of VIN's for Canada ahead of time but heck maybe not...

Thanks for the reply, the trucks are actually sitting at the dealership, and I can’t take delivery because I don’t have insurance. This is extremely frustrating as my broker does not know what to do. Dealer is looking into it tomorrow.

I initially had a similar issue with mine (Knauz was my dealer in Chicago) - they got it sorted and I think had to talk to my insurance company but all good

So I got insurance, I had to go through a couple of different brokers, one right out refused, and I’ve been with them for 26 years. I went to another broker who said it was an issue with the 2025 Vin numbers even though they know the trucks exist. It is something on Ineos end. Anyway, picking up the new Quartermaster in the morning. Looking forward.!!

Like they just weren’t willing to insure it? I’ve never heard of that - maybe only for historically significant or true exotics - and even then they usually just broker it with a specialist underwriter. Oh well - congrats on the QM. Post pictures! Not a lot of them in NAM.

Wawanesa refused because the vin numbers did not come up for them. I went to a new broker and bam! It was done. Guess what?? No more Wawanesa . I’m pulling all my policies . 27 yrs of patronage and they did not want to dig any deeper than a quick Vin check.

Hey! Who did you end up with? I'm also in Toronto, supposed to be picking up my quartermaster this Saturday, but I've been waiting over a week to hear back from TD for a number.

Traveler's refused to insure my Grenadier in Texas when I purchased it in December '24 even though I already had 2 other vehicles, home and umbrella insurance through them.

What?! December ‘24 - that’s really late - plenty of data by then. I easily got quotes from State Farm and American Family in February ‘24. Maybe your agent is slow - just like your Texas drawls ;o)

Correction: drrrroooooaaaaahhhhuuuullllzzzzz

Does anyone use State Farm? Anyone have any issues with them?

I use State Farm for my two vehicle and nine motorcycles. And while I don’t yet own a Grenadier, my local agent was able to quote a policy. At first, they weren’t able to pull anything, despite having a VIN. The agent was able to give a fairly accurate estimate given the MSRP of the vehicle.

What I would recommend is that you press your agent to double- and triple-check with their underwriters. About eight years ago, when we purchased our house and insure with State Farm; the agent came back with a notice from underwriting that I needed a new roof. After some digging, the issue was because State Farm wouldn’t insure the roof type. We’ve since re-roofed with a different roof type, so press your agent to confirm with underwriting if you wish to insure with State Farm.

I look forward to seeing you on the road. I have a broker in Huntsville Ontario that I use. Gore insurance were the ones that gave the policies to both my bus partners Grenadier, wagon and my quartermaster.
